Forums - Gaming - HAs sony abandoned move/ps4 camera?

I think because the demand is so high they only have the manpower available to make consoles only. When It eases off a bit i'm sure they'll start replenishing camera stocks.

The ps4 has had an incredible launch, no one can deny that. One thing that has bothered me though, the ps4 camera. it is a very capable camera, but it has zero software for it (MS has this issue with kinect and that is bundled with the console), is sony selling the camera strictly as a device for streaming and video chat at this point, or will they try to support it with some software and move as well like sports champions 2 for instance? Is there a plan to at least make more use of it? Not a huge deal to me as I hate motion controls but I am thinking bigger picture for sony here.

One thing sony does not do a good job with is supporting secondary devices/peripherals imo, Move seemed to be abandoned as well.

The camera has plenty of software for it. Okay well maybe not directly but there are games taking advantage of it with voice controls etc. And Twitch. Twitch is probably the number one use for that camera and there are a lot of people streaming with that camera connected.

As far as the Move I guess time will tell. But it doesn't look good IMHO.

I hope for something at E3. Move is still the best motion control experience you can currently have on a console. I still love Sports Champions 1/2 and Tumble made really great use of move as well. Another Eyepet or Wonderbook could move some consoles as well.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I think it's still selling better as the other peripheral, PSVita.

Yes. It would've been smarter to make it a mandatory purchase like the Kinect.

Yeah the backlash to Kinect really changed things. I kinda wish the cam stayed as a forced add on like Kinect 2, but market certainly were happy they dropped it.

I know indies will be using it a lot, and probably by the end of the year multiplat games will have their kinect features ported over.

Was it though?

They're going to add more functionality with it as time goes on. The ps4 eye is currently $100. It has a pretty high demand.

Got mine for 59.99, where is it 100?

As far as I remember 100 was Eye+Move on PS3, maybe he saw a combo as well.

I think so. I think they abandoned it when they decided not to bundle PS Eye with every ps4.
Although Sony knows its hardcore gamers that are buying the PS4 now. Maybe in a few years they will begin releasing PS Eye games to get the interest of casuals.
