Forums - Gaming Discussion - HAs sony abandoned move/ps4 camera?

The ps4 has had an incredible launch, no one can deny that. One thing that has bothered me though, the ps4 camera. it is a very capable camera, but it has zero software for it (MS has this issue with kinect and that is bundled with the console), is sony selling the camera strictly as a device for streaming and video chat at this point, or will they try to support it with some software and move as well like sports champions 2 for instance? Is there a plan to at least make more use of it? Not a huge deal to me as I hate motion controls but I am thinking bigger picture for sony here.

One thing sony does not do a good job with is supporting secondary devices/peripherals imo, Move seemed to be abandoned as well.

Shame if they did. I was playing some Sports Champions a few weeks ago and the device works great. Even if they just used the pointer controls, it would be worth supporting.

The PS Move seemed as *gimmicky* as the Wii Nunchuck. I don't see to much more coming from it. The PS4 Camera, however, is an Omegle app away from being a household equivalent to the PS4, in my opinion...

Not any more than Microsoft and kinect, the casual are just not there in enough numbers yet, little timmy is 14 now and he is busy looking at porn on pornhub, little Lisa is posting nude on instagram, Mommy is getting drunk while fucking the neighbor, dad is back at work since the recession is over, gamgam is dead and Johnny is playing cod

Maybe, I am just curious if sony will work to add more functionalty and make it more appealing as the life cyclie goes on or will it be an afterthought like move?

Most Xbox One games and apps use Kinect.

I think it's still selling better as the other peripheral, PSVita.

I really don't think they've abandoned it if they chose to include it in every DS4. The only game I can think of that takes advantage of it right now is Skylanders. Maybe developers are waiting until the PS4 has a larger install base before they start to take advantage of it.

Predicting that Second Son (PS4) will outsell Titanfall (XOne) in lifetime sales.  Click here for sales comparison thread.

If that's enough for you to warrant the extra $100 you pay extra for kinect good for you then, I'll wait for the innovative games that were suppose to come once kinect got more accurate
