Forums - Gaming - Games that people/critics were too harsh on?

I personally think the critics were too harsh on these 4 titles which I enjoyed quite a lot.

PlayStation Move Ape Escape (PS3) - 43 metacritic
Racquet Sports (PS3) - 45 metacritic
Duke Nukem Forever (PS3) - 51 metacritic
Need for Speed Undercover (PS3) - 59 metacritic

Too Human, I loved this game and the online co-op but the game was 65 on metacritic its a 90 to me!

There's an argument to be made that Melee is the best Smash game (I disagree), but SSB64 has not aged well at all- it's almost unplayable now

I think it's not just playable, still feels great. It's quick paced, while Brawl is more clunky.

I may be in the .0001 percentile with this pick but I have to go with Star Fox Assault...

other m was good except i didn't care for the story. sonic lost world and zombiu are world class and deserve perfect scores.

Sonic Lost World is the only one that I can think of. Sure, it was flawed, but  some critics  were too  harsh mostly because they didn't even take the time to learn the controls and such.

So, the game that was the most apprant case of reviewers beeing too harsh cause they usually are when a game is japanese is... Nier.

Nier is a fantastic game. It changes gameplay, it has originality, and amazing plot, amazing soundtrack and amazing world to explore. What did the reviewers focus on? Oh boo hoo i am killing sheep in the started quests... this game sucks!

Yeah, turns out they were wrong to a ciminal level. The game was incredible and should have reviewed on the 9's. Alas, if it isnt a western game, it needs to be twice as good for reviewers to really try to apreciate it.

On the topic of Sonic 06... unfortunely it did deserve to be criticised due to the bugs. The game was nearly unplayable. The levels where you carry the princess were pretty bad aswell, as were the controls.
But the design, the graphics, the focus on speed and the whole storyline didnt deserve all the hate it got. Yes, i know... he got kissed by a human, but so what? Terrible to have a bit of romance tension going? I didnt hate it for all its worth, and the appeal of that game is clearly better than the appeal of Sonic lost world.

It was just a shame it was bugged to hell cause that was the direction i wanted to see Sonic go. Cool and fast with a storyline i want to care about.

At least the sales of Lost world make it obvious that the Sonic croud is not on little kids. SEGA needs to go back toa more mature Sonic (not necessarily romancing more humans though). Since we're are it, i do agree Lost world is a better game than the reviews let you know, but i do think that the lack of appeal of this kiddy Sonic is the reason for the bad sales.

Super Columbine Massacre RPG.

I'm dead serious. I've seen people put this on "Worst Thing Ever" lists multiple times, but I find it to be a great interactive explanation of the events of April 20, 1999.

Final Fantasy XIII, Nier (critics only), the Dynasty Warriors series, and many others I enjoyed.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness - These paired games did have dated graphics (even for DS) and repetitive gameplay, but I found it genuinely fun. And the story and characters are FAR better than in any main-series Pokemon game, which is saying something.
