I'm being serious here, but why does everyone love this game so much? I find it pretty overrated, just like when Skyrim came out.

I think TLoU suffers from the Metal Gear Solid 4 syndrome. When it came, it suddenly become a masterpiece. Critics of everywhere were praising MGS4. It didn't matter their bias or console of preference: it was just that good. Game of the Generation, already; it had almost the same meta than TLoU. (One point less).

It's 2013, and most people have forgotten that game.

Maybe it's not the case with TLoU. Maybe it stands against time and newer games, or maybe it won't. Only time will prove if I am wrong.

I got the original Uncharted the same year as Metal Gear Solid 4, I found the former's story much more engaging and coherent, its character more personable, its dialogue more natural and its acting more impactful. Despite being the archetype of a popcorn summer blockbuster without anywhere near the scope of MGS, it felt like better narrative.

I had the exact opposite problem with the Last of Us. I can objectively see it as a supremely good game and narrative experience. Its characters, plot and thematic elements were superlative, but I still find myself not liking it as much as Bioshock Infinite which had more plot holes and is more convoluted by far.

I often question why that is the case, but in the decided that I just like the fantasy element of Infinite better than the grimdark of the Last of Us, despote both tale be positively morbid.

I feel that the Last of Us is a fantastic game worthy of experiencing and arguably one of the best games of last gen. But my GOTY was still Infinite.

Odd really.

Really? More than GTA V? Do you have an extended list? Would be great :)

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Now it's settled, those "awards" have 0 credibility.

Aww it's too bad 3D World didn't win. Then it would have been perfect right? Have you even played TLOU Zero? Or does your blind hatred of Sony prevent you from enjoying any of their game offerings.

Why am I not surprised with your quote? oh, right. lately, every time you talk to me you call me a fanboy blind of hate and/or make cheap offenses and/or provocations.

now on topic. a "game" like tlou becoming the most awarded only proves those awards mean nothing since there's such a huge amount of better games. besides, it's not like even 10% of those awards existed back in the snes/N64 era. if they did, old games would have lots of awards too.

Wow, now that's a waterproof argument if I've ever seen one. "There's a huge amount of better games", great, not only is that an opinion but I would also bet that you have never even played TLOU, so that whole point is completely moot. I might just as well say, that there is no better game than TLOU and you know what? That point would be just as valid as yours while saying something completely different, magical how opinions work, right?

And just so you know, every "offense" or "provocation" you get thrown at yourself, you have only yourself to blame for, what goes around comes around.

One major reason why TLOU doesn't deserve it; GAMEPLAY. Its not horrible, but it clearly and afterthought. The stealth elements are quite possible the worst in video game history. Inexcusable lack of consistency in the design. Gunplay is also sloppy, but understandable given the material and characters.

In terms of the ''resonate'' sentence. Thats simply down to playstation fan presence on websites, fansites and blogs.

People have compared TLOU to MGS4 and I agree entirely on this. In a few years, people will look back on how bad the gameplay actually was and watch it disappear from the ''top 10 games'' lists.

Congratulations Naughty God!!

It was a good game, but not my personal favorite.

Sorry, but the game does not deserve all that praise.

I see no review mentioning the repetitiveness of wave after wave of enemies to kill or how unsactisfactory the stealth is because, just like the batman series, once you do a stealth kill everybody is alerted to your presence regardless.
I'm playing the game atm and i can say those aspects bug me. Its a good game, but its not this super flawless game some people want to pass it as.

This game is nowhere near the innovative levels of other similarly rated games like Zelda OOT, Mario 64, GTA3, Soul calibur, etc.

Sounds like you're not very stealthy.

I dont know what you are on about. I love stealth games. I just dont love it when stealth doesnt work cause the big bad guy has a heartbeat reader.

The excuse isnt there on TLOU even. I choke some guy stealthly and everyone 2 rooms down hears it. Yeah... really nice stealth gameplay there.
