A pretty dismal week. I do wonder if Vita can maintain this momentum and stay above 10k the whole year. It'll be hard.

Vita stays alive! WiiU dropping, should be under 10k next week. 3DS numbers not that great, might be time for another price drop.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Because unlike Vita, WiiU sales in Japan this week are terrible and also down YOY |
26k a week is bad for 3DS but not for Vita? How so?

Vita sales are significantly up YoY and 3DS sales are significantly down YoY, what's so hard to understand about this?

Last year numbers were 9k. Do you really believe that being up yoy from 9k is remarkable? Low standars.

If it's your favorite console being under Vita sales, just spite on Vita, it's not bein a hater to defend your favorite console honor.
Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:
PS4: 17m XB1: 10m WiiU: 10m Vita: 10m
Hardware market is looking rough in Japan. This week is roughly equal to week 3 2011 before the 3DS/Vita/WiiU came out. If we go back to 2006, just the DS/PSP/360 were about equal to hardware this week. I think the DS was having supply issues as well around that time. Two weeks later it was at 110k, then 22k the week after that. Of course then the Lite came out in March and it only dropped below 100k once for the rest of the year.
If we compare to 2007/8 this week looks even worse, both of those had total hardware sales nearly three times higher in week 3. Of course those had both handhelds plus all three consoles released. However considering the Wii U's performance I don't expect the PS4 and XBO to somehow make up the difference.

It's not remarkable by any stretch. But given that this time last year it was uncertain whether the console would even have a future (after having had a sub 5k-per-week October and had dropped to sub 10k-per-week already in the new year), I think these sales satisfy that Vita will have a full life cycle in Japan.
Which is why the "Vita is dead" posts are so irritating. It's not doing well. But it's in a much better position now than it was last year, and is a long, long way from dying (in Japan).
Well, shit.
That is very disappointing for the 3DS.
