Wii-U needs another price drop and better 3rd party support. I mean, last year it missed GTA V, and games like Kingdom Hearts 3, FF XV, Aliens Isolation, etc. are not being developed for the console. That's a big problem for the system.

Third party support only comes from console sales. So Nintendo needs to sell the console and why would GTA release on it when its not reeleasing on any next gen console? That's more work for rockstar and their busy fixing their buggy game. Damn thing isnt even out on PC

Then it's a dead end. People don't buy WiiU's because there isn't many games, and Developers don't port their games because there isn't many systems sold. Nintendo has to pay the developers so they can port their games.

Wii-U and PS360 have similar graphic power, it could have been very easy to port it. However future releases, the ones that are being developed on PS4 and X1, are going to be difficult to release on the Wii-U because developers will need to make the game from zero.

I already expected this. I still think they might release their back catalog for phones, but i already knew they were mistranslating him into sounding like they were going 3rd party.
Not gonna happen fellas. That is a bad business move for Nintendo and they know better.

There`s no reason for Nintendo to leave the console business, be it handheld or home consoles.
The biggest problem with the recent news was not the lack of Wii U sales, but how high that goal was. Nintendo should had never expected that much.

If anything, all the recent quotes from Iwata and what he said in January last year, point not to a decrease in HW business, but an increase.

It's a sad day for gamers around the world. Now people from around the world won't be able to experience their gaming offerings on other consoles like it should be.

They dont need to make games from Zero. The WiiU has a nigh similar architecture to the PS4 and Xbox. Its just downporting from the PC>

They better not. They need elbow room. If they cease to make consoles and their handhelds end up flopping one day then they'd be truly doomed.

So, no good games for other consoles. Guilty Iwata.

1) The Gamepad is sadly a liability and does not offer anything new. Don't drop it, but make it an optional purchase -- $79/£69 for those that want it. In addition to this, release a firmware update that makes the Gamepad completely optional in the entire Wii U menus.

This is a lot easier said than done.  Out of the 3 titles I've played (2D mario, WW HD, 3D mario), the later 2 required the gamepad to some degree I believe.  Sounds like a big headache rewriting software.  Not to mention titles currently in development that are planning to use it.

On top of all that, barring some ergonomics, I like the pad.  Very cool to be able to set up a game while my GF watches the end of an episode on TV.  Also makes the system seem higher end than it is.  Something different from the other two, etc.

Personally, I think no game pad means no Wii U.

Yeah to bad...(sarcasm)... Nintendo should probably port Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros to the PS4. Then sell the rights to Pikmin to Microsoft. And sell Zelda to Electronic Arts. Then make Animal Crossing DLC's for CoD for Activision. Then Vita will sell 33 million systems in 2014, then Nintendo will discontinue the 3DS, and bring back the Gameboy, and call it the GameBoy Color v 2.0. Then President Iwata will work for Sega and create a new Sega Saturn. Right?

Umm no, this is a gross over simplification. How did x1 and PS4 have large third party support befiore they sold 1 console? They made systems that make it easy for publishers/developers next gen titles to run on, and to develop for. Not too mention having robust online infrastructure. nintendo also have not dont anything to really try to foster positive third party goodwill toards them and are payign the price now.

Nintendo made a weak system way too late in the gen, when most devs are moving on too next gen engines, making putting the games on the wii-u a head ache. Then there is the gamepad.
