Look at gamecube second year sales, it will do as much in the best scenario

If your 6.5m prediction holds up, then that's still pretty bad for the system's peak year. Personally I think it will do around 5m in 2014.

I don't care for Smash Brothers, but I'm down for DKC, Mario Kart, Bayonetta, and X. So 4 games I really want, which is about par for a usual Nintendo console outside of it's final year or two. 

Nintendo fans should not put to much faith in smash bros and mario kart 8. No doubt they will push systems, but it won't be as significant as many expect. Nevetheless, from a pure gaming point of view, the Wii U is going to beast.

The main problem Nintendo will have to deal with is stock with retailers. We did hear that over December retailers in the US were claiming that they sold all their Wii U units, and yet the Wii U didn't pull crash hot amazing numbers that one would expect from sell outs. So no matter what awesome games you bring out, if retailers keep your in store presence on the low you can't make big numbers.

I voted for decent - good. I expect it to break 10 million by the end of the year.

Nintendo is going to pull out all the stops this year. They really have no choice. SSB will be out in October, With Zelda out 5 days before Black Friday. MK8 is going to need mad legs, and need massive word of mouth to help out in the early part of the year. Bay2... I hate to sound like an ass, but that game will have 80-100K tops in the first few weeks, and won't make it above 250k. 3rd party games aren't Nintendo's greatest strengths. So, I am positive due to gloom and doom, Zelda will be out this year.

MK8- April (best selling Wii U game of the year)
SSB-October (will be outdone by 3ds version)
Zelda (a solid game could sell really well)
Wii Sports 3 (It's coming this year... and won't be a big deal)

Here's hoping Wii U does something great this year!!

Doing better than 2013 doesn't mean that it'll be a good year... Those numbers aren't hard to beat...
It has already started the year off worse than last year. Not looking good.

Nintendo has a good lineup for this year, with a lot of exclusives, but they need more than just games..

Gamecube games on the eshop
New Bundles
Improve in advertisement and Hype
Games with two gamepads
Slash the price of 3DS (a WiiU with a game is just 100$ expensive than a 3DS XL without a game and without the battery charger)
Include a wiimote in every WiiU pack
Create new alliances with different companies to bring new software
Recover some franchises (Battalion wars, fzero, starfox..)
A new Fatal Frame ( they have de right of this IP I think!! And the gamepad demads this game!!

I believe this is a "do or die" situation for the wiiU. If it flops again this year, then it will be seen as a flop forever. If it picks up considerably, then it might turn it's fortunes around.

Relatively I think it'll do good, but that's still pretty bad over all.

Who knows. MK8 could really make a difference. My prediction is only 4 million for the year though.
