Forums - Nintendo - Wii U will have a good 2014

How will Wii U do in 2014?

Great 96 33.33%

Good 92 31.94%

Decent 54 18.75%

Bad 29 10.07%

Horrible 17 5.90%

Total:288

6.5M isn't a good year, it's bad year that looks good only in comparison to the previous year. PS3's worst year was 2007, which wasn't even a full year in all markets, it sold 7.9 million and EVERYONE was saying and/or hoping doom.

Games-wise, yes it should be another good year, but that just makes 6.5M all the more disappointing.

Personally I'm predicting 35% YoY growth, so 4.2 million, and that's basically the pulling power of the games listed in the OP. With a price cut I could see 6.5M happening.

Wii U is going to have a great year. The famous karting game Mario Kart 8 releases, everyone's favorite brawler, SUper Smash Bros, makes its return. RPG fans will be pleased with X, hacker and slasher enthusiasts will rejoice with Bayonetta 2, and platformer lovers will enjoy Donkey kong Country Tropical Freeze. Hopefully, they'll also be pleased with the open world game Watch Dogs and racing simulator Project CARS. These are just the confirmed games, and notable mention to Hyrule Warriors!

So u expect 5.5m for the yr.? I hope it does.

better than 2013, of course

Wii U will do ok..nothing more nothing less. To be fair, from Nov onwards sales picked up somewhat, Japan seem to have got on board and Dec NPD numbers were a pleasant surprise. The better games this year will certainly help, and hopefully it will have got to at least the 10m mark by the end of the year.

In terms of games it looks to be a very good year, in terms of sales maybe not so much. They will be good in comparison to 2013 but overall still mediocre.

Smash brothers can easily get delayed. I wouldn't be so confident about it releasing in 2014.

I'm 100% sure that this year will determine whether or not Wii U is face-down dead in the water.

Wii U had a bad year in 2013 in terms of sales. But in terms of games, it had a great year. 2014 seems to be a better year. Jan. we have Wii Fit U, Feb. will have DK Tropical Freeze. Spring will have MK8, after spring will be Smash Bros, and more. I expect this to be Wii U's 2014 sales. Q1- 600K, Q2- 900K, Q3- 1.3M, Q4- 3.7M. Do you guys think Wii U will have a good year. I think it will be great.

Depends WHOLEY on the casuals.

In terms of sales I think reaching GameCube levels of sales (pre-2004 collapse) is probably the best case scenario. Mario Kart and Smash help but they're only two games and both are likely to be the lowest selling in the series, just as NSMBU is on pace to be the lowest selling 2D Mario.
