Forums - Sales - PSV sold only ~90k (USA-December2013) - Where is the PS4 effect?

It's happened here in Europe. America will eventually adopt it but sales will be the same plus ~PS Camera sales. It's going to be viewed as an accessory to some.

I must have missed this.

The PS4 effect was the last straw a lot of fans tried to grasp, but nothing happened so far and nothing will happen.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Wat do u mean the ps4 effect wasnt there it sold 94k without the ps4 were looking at war 30k

The real premise was a resurgeance if Sony gave it for free when people buy a PS4. Not if you have to pay for it.

In reality... what's going to happen is the vita sales will continue to be piss poor for the rest of its life but it will still continue to sell none the less cause of the ps4, instead of being super low

Here's an article which signifies the effect that the PS4's launch had on the Vita in the UK: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/12/19/ps4-launch-boosts-ps-vita-sales

This seems to be the most likely thing to happen now.

The PS4 effect happened in Europe? Huh? Vita sold 30k in Europe in the first week of 2014.. That's  not even 10k more than the Wii U, a console that is considered dead in Europe..

Vita is a dead weight to SCEA. A console they have to admit the existance of because it is Sony-developed; but something they do not understand and do not want to particularly have anything to do with.

PS4 will be their baby. If you buy a Vita to play PS4 games on, great, more money for them. If you don't, they couldn't really care less because they still have PS4.

Honestly, I've never really seen (although I haven't been examining for a great amount of time) such a case of one region dragging a whole console down so drastically. I mean, 360 in Japan sure, but at least Microsoft tried there. SCEA gave less than 9 months worth of caring and then completely gave up.

Saddens me so much, but there you go.

when is the cheaper vita releasing in the west?

Pretty much this. We all saw how the price drop worked for the 3DS.

A 68% and a 65% boost from a next to non-existent handheld, especially during the pre-Christmas season, which would've seen a boost either way, is not really a significant sign.
PS Vita TV in Japan had a bigger impact on PSV sales than PS4 launch in all of Europe. And Vita TV is considered a flop there.
