It's happened here in Europe. America will eventually adopt it but sales will be the same plus ~PS Camera sales. It's going to be viewed as an accessory to some.

I must have missed this.

The PS4 effect was the last straw a lot of fans tried to grasp, but nothing happened so far and nothing will happen.

Here's an article which signifies the effect that the PS4's launch had on the Vita in the UK: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/12/19/ps4-launch-boosts-ps-vita-sales

The Vita sold a whopping 5.8k in the week the PS4 released, up from 3.2k the week before. And this was just before the holidays, even the Xbox 360 was up 20% this week and I doubt the Xbox 360 benefited from the PS4 launch.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

A 68% and a 65% boost from a next to non-existent handheld, especially during the pre-Christmas season, which would've seen a boost either way, is not really a significant sign.
PS Vita TV in Japan had a bigger impact on PSV sales than PS4 launch in all of Europe. And Vita TV is considered a flop there.

What you don't understand is that PS4s were being bundled with Vitas here in the UK which SOLD when the solus was sold out. I would believe that this would have an impact. Also, we are not given concrete number to assess how much impact the PS4 sales had on the Vita, only percentages. When I said its happened here in Europe, I was extrapolating the UK data to the entire continent without taking into account confounding factors.

An increase is an increase, there are always underlying factors. As someone who lives in the UK, I noticed that some people were buying the PS4/Vita Bundle as they were unable to purchase the solus thanks to the retailers which would explain the increase. There was nothing being released on the Vita so the PS4 sales have most definitely affected the Vita sales. With the 360, it sells well consistently and there were offers for it on that specific week.

PS4 itself still has not got many games that everyone want as a next gen, so how do you expect Vita to go very strong without the games they want to play for remote play? Vita will do great when there are many next gen games in PS4.

as much as i can see it happening, lots of people believed vita would get huge boost from the launch of ps4.

OT: Is this the lowest amount of hardware sales in the US? (i mean like in the first couple of years a console/handheld been out)

No release date yet but my guess before E3. Sony more worried about demand and getting ready for PS4 launch this Feb for Japan. Thats were the MULA Is $$$$$$$$
