Forums - Gaming - Ni no Kuni vs Fire Emblem Awakening: Which will sell more in NA?

Which will sell more?

Ni no Kuni 39 30.23%

Fire Emblem 69 53.49%

About the same. 21 16.28%

Total:129

FE, like most Nintendo games will have legs and keep on selling.

With the rise of the PS4, I cant see Ni No Kuni selling for an other 2or3years.

FE will not have the legs of a Mario game. Legs are a product of genre (which means appeal in this case) and the available userbase. I'd say both games have similar appeal, but Ninokuni definitely has a lower barrier to entry.

With Playstation Now coming, I don't see how you think older games will stop selling.

However something you're not taking into consideration here is the fact that Fire Emblem has a much higher ratio than normal for digital due to supply issues.  It's not going to be the usual "10%."

Yes, the fact it had supply issues is why it's going to close or above 10%. For big retail games, digital numbers are still pretty low. MH4 had major supply issues in Japan and even released on eShop several hours before shops opened, and still ended with 8-10% ratio. Only reason people are high on Ninokuni is because it's been <$10 on sale several times.

Except for the fact that digital sales for FE: A is definitely more than 10%.  Also, being on sale several times is no more of a determining factor than saying that FE: A had supply issues.  Also, MH4 had a MUCH larger shipment than FE: A did.  FE: A was heavily under-supplied.  Not so much for MH4.  So either way saying that whatever Fire Emblem had, Ni no Kuni has to be higher is still way too presumptuous about both games.

MH4 had a large shipment, but it was much lower than initial demand.

Only concrete number we have is Awakening doing 62k digitally, correct?

I just checked, its way over 125k in US.

On eShop it has a list of the top 20 games for US. LoZ ALBW made it on the list by Nov 31st and LM2+FE was ahead of it in sales before overtaking them in the 2nd week of Dec!

Below is the statement of NPD for LoZ. 125k is just the number of The 3DS limited edition sold (which all counts as Digital sales). Also the fact they mention of the 280k its mixed with retail+digital!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, the sixth Nintendo 3DS title to have a Metacritic score of 90 or higher, sold more than 280,000 combined digital and physical units. That figure jumps to more than 405,000 total units when including the special edition Zelda-themed Nintendo 3DS XL system, which comes with a code to download the game.

NPD numbers came out and show Ni No Kuni at 329k and FE 370k NA. So unless Ni No Kuni did much much better than FE digital, Fire Emblem should win this one out.

As September 2013

Edit: The poll has an "About the same" option :P which is probably the correct one, why are we fighting over this? haha
