anyway I think as a parent you can make a account for you kid, have it charged up with iTunes prepaid cards and not a CC.. and look into the settings for parental controls... with 28 million accounts who made in app purchases in kids apps asked and 37,000 responded that means that 27,963,000 people didn't have any problem cause they were smarter about it

This is more of Apples and the developers fault here. Apple for having piss poor regulations on the software on its market, and the developers who in-app purchases brush too closely to be predatory and fraudulent. Though parent also hold a bit of responsible for knowing how the things their children are playing with work.

No Apple first had it where you only had to put it in once to get free reign, then put a 15 minutes of free reign once kids started to put $1000's on their parents cards. I'm pretty sure google does the same thing if you have a credit card attched to the account but they allow you to download the apps without a Credit Card on file, Apple requires one, which is kind of a step up. (You can set up an account for your children that has no card attached and they can play to their hearts or the developers content without the risk of loosing money.)

Nope the 15 minutes was there from the start of the App store in 2008.. there is also an option to set the 15 minute limit to an always every time you buy someting setting..

What? You don't require a credit card to download free apps, uninformed consumer. You can make a US account with no CC information, and top it up with prepaid cards if needed later on. I know, because I have a US account with no CC info attached to it.

This is how parents should set up the accounts for their kids... you would never give your CC to your fve year old son.

But I agree that in-app purchases should require password by default, although it's an option as described by NiKKoM.
