My friends 3-4 year old kid accidently spent like $400 in a few minutes of playing something once.

At a party I let a kid I didn’t really know play a game on my phone.  When I got my phone back (he was sitting with me, but I was playing with the other kids too.) He had added 3-4 other games to my phone.  I told him, hey don’t be doing that, that’s not ok.

While obviously, yes you should watch your kids.  One shouldn’t be giving them loaded weapons.

oh ok u expect parents to actually know how to do that? I read online that unless u follow that step by step u still gotta put in a cc. so no dice still apple's faut for making it difficult.

With that said though apple are to blame here. The amount of times I have been on my nephews ipad and an advert has poped up mid game for purchases and i have had to "X" it off. Would not be so bad if you could put a block on purchases so no matter what the kid presses nothing happens.

It's not rocket science, as it is one of the options for payment methods... you even have Paypal. Whenever I have the option not to give CC info, I always try to use it. But it seems that people just like to give their information for free and trusts the company is working for their well-being, when they are only doing it for their own benefit.

Still we are talking about the US, place where you have to warn everyone about any tiny little thing, or you get sued.

easily solved with an account system of sorts or to allow them to put it in "kid mode" or something. Locking out bad stuff and purchases, but allowing them to play the dinky ass games.

Or switch the internet off your device. That's what I do when I hand over my iPod Touch to my nephew.
