Titanfall is coming out on a system which desperately needs it. It will sell even if it turns out to be a massive turd. Infamous is more tricky but the protagonist is not doing it any favors. It is also a single player game, most people think that there is no point in buying SP games early when they are expensive. So i think it will be an easy win for Titanfall.

This. The majority of Single player focused games are rented or traded. While the multiplayer focused shooters sell millions more just from the hundreds of hours that can be put into it.

Titanfall being on multiple platforms will dilute its sales on Xbox One - which, as you point out, is the only console being used as a comparison point.

I think so. Depends how much each is bundled but I could see both getting a lot of holiday bundles this year. PS4 will have the higher install base but is the gap big enough yet to make a difference? Well I think Titanfall is a lot bigger of a game for Xbox than Infamous is for PS yet Infamous is keeping pace. So either Infamous is finally taking off (Sony really dropped the ball with Infamous 2's ads and releasing it during E3).

I think Infamous is a "B" tier franchise (especially after the shitty sequel imho), but it will have a couple of big advantages. Like more users to sell to, and the fact that it will see less sequels this gen than Titanfall, and those sequels will be multiplatform. So it wouldn't be shocking for it to do that.

I would love for it to happen. If Titanfall lives up to the hype it would mean SS would sell a lot of copies. The only way this happens is if Titanfall bombs which it wont. The first infamous was the best game I played on PS3 after Warhawk.

Being a PS fan, and as much as I would love to see Second Son beat a game like Titanfall, I have to say this highly unlikely nigh impossible. A game like the 2 titles may be very close in preorders by the time each game releases, but a game like Titanfall will have much stronger legs due to it's genre and the hype it will generate. That being said, I do think Second Son will be by far the best selling Infamous to date, and will sell pretty respectively nonetheless.

Its certainly going to be an interesting matchup and a close one (looking only at X1 sales for Titanfall). Will be keeping an eye on this.
