Handhelds rule Japan, I don't see PS4 doing that much honestly as there are no games that will interest their market at the moment

No matter what it will add some good sales even if that's the case.

The biggest problem is actually the supply's issue...

I dont see PS4 doing less than PS3 in Japan when it's doing much better everywhere else.

Sales will be more closer to PS2.


I think the " Home consoles market is dead in Japan " is a legend . We have no way to know that, it only depends of games, yes PS3 had less japan games than PS2 because of the difficulty to develop on next gen, but such things can change and Japan developers showed the will to change that recently( even Japan Studio is waking up), and since PS4 will be the leader of the generation, they'll have much more exclusives



Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

There is a rumor in France that's said some stock here are send to Japan instead. So if Japan doesn't want it bring it back to Europe because here everybody want them lol.

The market isn't 'dead' in Japan, but it has definitely shown a massive contraction from the PS2 days.

PS4 will be in the good position of having reduced direct competition from the Wii U and Xbox one, but indirect competition from handheld gaming and more importantly mobile gaming is likely to restrict sale numbers.

I haven't seen a huge wave of Japanese devs announcing multiple projects for PS4 either. If they found PS3 development unprofitable, I doubt that's about to change with the PS4 any time soon.

Yep its nothing but a myth. According to Vgchartz

PS2+GC+XB-27.75m

Wii+PS3+360-24.18m

Combined 7th gen home consoles sold almost 1m in 2013 so its very possble they leg it out to 25m in the next 2 years. That would put 7th gen down 10% from 6th gen. Thats far from dead

You have to understand that there are two different types of people: Those that debate and are happy with their stance even though it's not popular and those that debate only to 'win' because they're insecure and need support.
