Forums - Sales - Why come no one is seeing the 2D screenings of today's 3D Movies? (i.e. Gravity & 47 Ronin)

Hate 3D. Always gives me headaches during the movie. Last one I saw was man of steel and I was enjoying the movie but the headache was like someone driving a chainsaw down my forehead.

I heard that people no longer have those problems after seeing a 3D several times in the same 1 to 2 weeks.

Senior citizens had to see Avatar 3D; 7 to 8 times, but middle-age people only needed to see it 2 to 3 times.

And everyone with a Nintendo 3DS says they would play with reduce 3D (you can adjust the volume of 3D), and turn the 3D OFF for breaks once in a while, but after 1 to 2 weeks they now play with the 3D ON full blast 100% of the time. They had gradually play at higher and higher volume of 3D with shorter breaks from the 3D effect being on, until they were playing full blast 24/7.

My local pushes 3D versions of films, take Thor, for the first few weeks of release they didn't even screen it in 2D, then when the finally did it was at crappy hours. I didn't go to see Thor.

Oh, and I didn't see it in 3D because they charge 30-50% more for 3D movies, depending on day/time.

You should see if there is a "Rave" Cinema in your area, so you don't have to pay any bullcrap surcharge for 3D.

I love Rave Cinema. It's the best thing to replace the Magic Johnson Theaters, but it's too bad they didn't keep any of those tons of Arcade game machines that were at each Magic Johnson Theater.

I'm curious on how Legend of Hercules will do.

im seriously envious of all you that pay 13-15$ for a movie in 3d where yall live. hell a 2d movie by me at the better theaters charge 18$ 3d is 20$ at those. if i want i can go to the hole in the wall mom and pop theaters and they charge 15$ and dont offer any 3d options lol.

I can't help but notice that not that many people pay to see 2D screenings for these movies, like 47 Ronin & Gravity.

So why are people losing interest in the higher resolutions 2D screenings offer?

Is it because 3D Movies cost the same as 2D movies, excluding certain Cinemas like greedy AMC.

i cant speak for everyone but around me alot of the bigger movies arent in 2d in my theatres or they have wierd time slots for 2d, alot of my cinemas after Avatar invested heavily in 3d and are trying to force you to watch the 3d version by have the 2d version in the smaller theatres or at wierd ass times like 11am or 1am.

same thing happens in my area, the movie theatres are pushing the 3D movies, and for some smaller movies they dont even show the 2D version.

December 2012 I had paid $6.50¢ for 3D XTREME (IMAX) 96 refresh rate for Hoobit 1, but December 2013 I had paid $6.00¢ for the exact samething for Hobbit 2.

I wish movies were that cheap here in Japan.

Last year when I watched the first Hobbit, I paid more than 3 times that for 3D in a normal small theater.

I'd watch movies in 2D, but my problem is living in Japan. If there's a 3D version the English dub is always shown in 3D. The 2D versions are all with Japanese dub. And while I'd of course understand the Japanese dub just fine, I don't want to watch movies that way. :/

So on the few rare occasions I pony up over 2000 Yen to watch a single movie I have to watch it in 3D. :(

I think ur just making things up. How many senior citizens saw Avatar 3D 7-8 times in theaters? Im calling bullshit on that one

Also ur wrong, not everyone with a 3DS says that. U made a thread awhile back asking 3DS owners what there opinion on 3D was and the majority said they dont like it.

I have noticed a trend in ur threads where u just make up facts

I got the senior citizen info from the news.

The Thread you're talking about ask if 3D glasses would be better 3D for 3DS, and most people said NO they prefer glasses-free 3D for 3DS.

Well, before 6pm is a mantinee discount, plus 2D Movies are cheaper, and after 6pm you pay more for the same format, plus you pay more for 3D, so of course the 3D are in the evening, with 2D movies in the afternoon. The most cheap price before 6pm withh Mantinee discount +2D, and the most extra price with no discount + 3D.

@manuel

I go before 6pm for Mantinee discount, and use my old student ID for Student Discount, which comes to a total of that much cheapness.

I love Rave Theaters.
