Forums - Gaming - Titanfall max player count is 12 players - 6 v 6 battles with AI

Thank god! I miss the old 4v4 halo days. I never liked super high player counts. What's the point? It just seems like something to boast about technically rather than having something meaningful- battlefield 4 64 players, mag 128 player, resistance 2 60 players... all pretty bad. No tight teamwork, no clear objective, etc.

Definitely picking up Titanfall now

Edit: Oh and in games where there are less players  individual skill/teamplay matters more. It's not like Battlefield where you are just running around shooting whatever just for the hell of it. Since many people are assuming 6v6 is bad without even playing it I'm just going to assume those people just lack skill to do well in those tight matches.

So a game that is multiplayer only and will run at 720p and has 6 vs 6 online matches is a $500 system seller?

I can't see you lasting long on this site.

But... You managed to last. So...

Not for long.

Indeed, after this uncalled for comment you made to The Fury, I don't expect you to be around during the next few days.

This thread has been interesting. Everyone not on XBOX side of things is disappointed and everyone who has some sort of xbox is pretty okay with this. PC players also seem kind of mellow but they usually love bigger is better.

As for me, this is completely okay. Despite, Call of Duty having a ground war mode with 18 players. Most people, ended up playing modes like team death match and other 6 vs 6 modes. Considering this has those titan things running around along with human players. It should be chaotic enough with the player count.

Anyways here is the response of Respawn PR team on that other site...

"Lots of armchair game designing going on in here. I'd suggest playing before judging a something as insignificant as a number in a vacuum.

Vince is right - we tried a huge amount of playercounts (all the way down to 1v1 and up quite high) and designed the maps, gameplay mechanics, and entire experience around which played best. If anyone wants to chase the numbers game, perhaps we're not the experience they're after? I dunno.

And FYI, for amount of stuff happening at once in a map you'll be hard pressed to find a game that keeps the action higher. I literally have to stop playing every few rounds because my heart just can't take it some times. Remember, you can get out of your Titan and let it roam on AI mode - meaning there can be 12 Pilots wallrunning around, 12 Titans stomping below, and dozens of AI doing their thing.

Oh, and I keep seeing people thinking we've got "bots" when we talk about AI. Thats not how they are. The AI in Titanfall are not replacements for human players. Our playercount is not 6v6 because of AI - AI play their own role in the game and are a different class of character in the game.

Can't wait! Only a couple months until speculative threads like this are gone and people are actually talking about their experiences with the game. Its truly fun stuff, and I hope everyone at least gives it a try.
"

Cheers.

Purely design based!!! LAL @ haters jumping directly at cloud

The problem with the high player count is that matches seems more like short bursts of playtime, instead of you experiencing the game fully. I like a high player count when it is like in Star Wars battlefront, lots and lots of AI that makes the game more balanced.

This should be in the MS section by the way.

Its completely Xbox Live exclusive. Even on PC.

no it fucking isnt. this is the second time i tell you in the space of 24 hours. this either spreadng false information to bait, selective memory or just a short attention span.

EA said the same thing about Sim City... Oh wait.
Same thing occured with Diablo 3.

What can happen is that some smart chap will play the game, capture the packets that are sent to him, then reverse engineer it, it's happened before.

While I don't know how I feel with 6 vs 6 battles, I must say, Gears of War 3 had 5 vs 5 battles ONLY, and man where those intense. There were some huge maps too.

So I won't disminish the 6 vs 6 restriction. EDIT: Until I see it working. Then I'll judge.

How do you capture the information that the Cloud is processing on the PC game?

Xbox Live Cloud is processing the AI, some physics and is swallowed in the dedicated servers of Xbox Live Cloud ON PC as well as The One.

Microsoft have opened it up on PC to Respawn to. Because Respawn said in June they were having to re engineer the PC version so it wont have all the bells and whistles. They were touting the Xbox One version as the better version then. But now the Cloud is available to PC gamers they arent having to gimp it.

It needs The Cloud to run. Not just play on.

How? Information has to be sent to your PC for it to be displayed on your screen, but that's simple logic, that can be captured and reverse engineered, it's happened before and it will happen again.
Remember, it's all mathematics and code, it's not magic.

Remember, Titanfall uses the source engine, which was made by Valve the owners of Steam and is a derivative of the Quake 2 engine, it's actually a very well understood code base in the PC gaming community.

Remember, the words you are currently sprouting was the exact same words EA said and look who had the last laugh.
