Forums - Nintendo - Mutant Mudds gets most revenue from 3DS version

I didn't even know it was on other platforms.

I thought it was a 3DS exclusive.

I believe it came out first on the 3DS eshop but then released to other platforms later.  The Steam version included a few more levels which they eventually released on a patch to the 3DS version for free.

It was obviously going to sell well on the 3DS.

No it wasn't.

So the 2 year old 3DS version took more globally, than the Wii U version has in about a year? and the PS3/Vita versions have in a fortnight USA only.

Awesome! Now please can you get on with getting the EU PSN release sorted out? K plz thx!

*edit* forgot about the Steam version, but people only buy games from Steam in sales don't they? :p

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Why not?  It was one of the more noticable 3DS indies at the time and it was exclusive for 6 months.  Exclusive on dedicated consoles for a year and a half, in fact.

It also seems like a title squarely aimed at Nintendo platforming fans, by a dev who previously worked exclusively on Nintendo consoles.

Unless you're debating the sell well part.  In which case, we don't really have any numbers based on this tweet.

OT:  Kudos to it, I guess.

To me it seemed more of a shooting star. It got good reviews and did amazingly because of it (and the lack of better options). Afaik, according to the e-shop best seller list anyway, the game is one of the best selling on the e-shop to this date, and that certainly wasn't obvious (before it released that is, I replied to the "was").

On the other hand, there are obvious reasons why it sold more on 3DS compared to other platforms.

Maybe because it came out almost 2 years late on PSN ( January 2012 on eshop, December 2013 PSN) ?

Come on, its a niche DL only title that was hyped as a good enough 3rd party downloadable game on the eshop. With a 23 month headstart it should bring in more revenue

Thanks for ignoring the other platforms it was released on, which combined have a much larger userbase than the 3DS.

And here is the list of all it's release dates:

Nintendo 3DS
NA January 26, 2012
EU June 21, 2012
Microsoft Windows
August 30, 2012
iOS
December 6, 2012
Wii U
NA June 13, 2013
EU TBA 2014
PlayStation Network
December 17, 2013

Look at the release pattern, game genre and at the developer... if you tell me it wasnt obvious its going to sell best on the 3DS Il believe you. But only if you honestly believe what you are saying .

This has nothing to do whether it was obvious or not, I never even stated such a thing. A version of a game generated more money on the 3DS eShop than it's counterparts on several different platforms combined, including Steam and iTunes. I thought this was good news for the 3DS, so I posted it. And not even 10 replies in and some people are trying to downplay it, I find that hilarious.

Now you answer my question, and anyone can answer, not just hunter_alien. Does one developer finding success on the 3DS scares you so much that you have to immediately downplay it, does it make you afraid that other developers might see it and start to make games for the 3DS, is your faith in the Vita, let's be honest this is what you and a few others focused on immediately when I considered selling more than on iOS and Steam more important, so small that even the tiniest piece of nice news for the 3DS terrifies you?

Wasn't the game exclusive to the 3DS for quite some time?
