Forums - Nintendo - News: Eurogamer choose SM3DW Game of The Year

Shame on you rockstar and naughtydog.
Couldnt iron out the glitches in your simple games and make them run at 60fps.
Plus shooting and gore is so boring, compared to jumping platforms and enemies which wont get old for another thousand years.
Their biggest mistake was going multiplayer, theres no need at all for online when you can be picking up GOTY awards without it. Its not like you have millions of dedicated fans having hours upon hours of online fun is it?

They never stood a chance against SM3DW. Congratulations Nintendo.

The press should renew itself. Those guys are out of touch with today's gaming world, just like Nintendo is.

I like how the OP takes a shot at other games right at the beginning, then talks about haters as though he has some kind of moral high-ground. People thinking their favorite genre is somehow inherently better than other genres has to be one of the most brainless aspects of video-game fandom.

Anyway, I guess we're going to see dueling "X is GotY at Y!" threads now. Awesome.

The only game in recent memory that I had to make myself stop playing because I simply didn't want it to end. Awesome title from start to finish and even beyond the finish. Well deserved.

Well that is the website in a nutshell isn't it. Op takes cheap shot, people in the thread cheapshots, everyone thinking they are kind of moral high-ground. No one actually playing the games they are talking about. I just remembered why I left this site, everyone is sooo bitter about everything.

I don't think that was his intent. He was speaking of the tendency of critics to gravitate towards first and third person shooters (and recently WRPGs) as almost categorical GOTY contenders in lieu of anything else. Much the same would likely be said if they had chosen, say, Puppeteer.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Is that really even true, though?  Didn't the Mario Galaxy games win multiple GotY awards?  And last year Journey and The Walking Dead?

Games like The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite, and GTA VI deserve consideration because they're high quality games, they aren't there just because they're realistic or have blood.  Implying that was just an effort to disparage them, which is petty.

Mario World might be the best of the lot, I have no idea, but there is no reason to suggest that the other contenders don't deserve their own accolades.

Well its an opinion

Never the less when you have a year with games like TLoU, B:I, Tearaway and Rayman Legends... its hard to argue that it was a competitive year all around

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

The comment section that get hidden from so many down votes are pretty funny if nothing else. I personally don't have a GotY from 2013, it's a tough year to pick out one since there were so many good games across different platforms if people actually bothered with all platforms instead of just hating on Nintendo due to bitterness and imaginary platform wars that don't really exist. I respect each media outlet's choice, since they are all good games in general.

Well I know a lot of people started getting annoyed that call of duty modern warfare 2 was getting GOTY hence the hate of FPS, but you are right about last year, The Walking Dead namely stole a lot of game of the year awards.

As for Mario Galaxy, despite being the highest rated game of that generation, it didn't win that much that year, infact it was really discounted in a lot of those GOTY talks, sometimes it wasn't even nominated. Might be why Nintendo fans are bitter towards the press. Imagine if Uncharted 2 was left out of GOTY.
