Forums - Nintendo - Sessler: Nintendo needs to change controller for Wii U to succeed

Nintendoland does a really good job at showing what it can do but they haven't really followed up on that at all.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

They should take the screen and TURN it upside down

Dude looks old as hell.

It took me about the same amount of time as getting used to a PS controller after the 360. Not sure what he's on about.

I'd buy a wii U again when the price is about 200 or if the game pad could play 3DS/DS games. That way i could have both systems in one. I really don't think Stick placement has anything to do with it.

I agree with one thing he said (and so does Nintendo) they haven't delivered on the games. And they are going to. The other stuff is correlative stuff that can't be proven or disproved except with anecdotal evidence.

Shut up Sessler!

Like a flipping billion dollar company will go and change a controller for a current console causing hundreds of problems and millions of dollars digging themselves into a deeper grave

Short answer: No, Sessler, it doesn't.

They don't need to change the controller. The pro controller is excellent. I've always felt they should drop the gamepad though. WM + Wireless nunchuck should also be included in the box. Like the nes had the zapper and the now standard controllers. Make the GP like Wii Fit; optional.

The GP is exclusionary. Polar opposite of the wii remote. Remains baffling as to why they went in this direction. Like Malstrom said, imagine apple started putting buttons back as standard for iPhones.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

The gamepad is a traditional controller layout, hello!!

Which is why his argument makes no sense. The gamepad is a traditional controller with a touch screen.
