Forums - Nintendo - Knack outsold Super Mario 3D World ... right ?

Remember when Knack outsold Mario 3D world in Europe?

Well ... :

http://www.vgchartz.com/game/73166/super-mario-3d-world/

http://www.vgchartz.com/game/71544/knack/

I remember fanboys saying Wii U doomed and stuff like that over this.

The point is:  The mere fact that anyone would mention Knack and a 3D Mario in the same breath shows how far Nintendo has fallen.  That is all, and it is bad.

Sony fans make topics about Knack selling more than Mario in one region by a statistically insignificant amount.

Nintendo fans make a topic to point out that Mario 3D World is actually selling quite well and is outselling Knack by quite a large margin.

Ha! Nintendo fans are making topics comparing Mario 3D World to Knack! Nintendoomed!

Btw, Puzzles and Dragons Z has outsold Call of Duty Ghosts in Japan in one week.  CODoomed.  Just Dance for Wii has outsold GT6, COD Ghosts, Assassin's Creed, and every other game in France this week.  GT6 flop/COD Ghosts/Assassin's Creed flop confirmed.  And, if you try to point out how absurd all of these comparisons are, you thereby imply the ridiculous comparisons are valid and show how doomed these products actually are.  -_-;;

And while we're at it, the PS4 outsold the Ouya this week.  I mentioned them in the same breath... How Sony has fallen as a result of one person making a silly comparison.

I expect an amazing thread when My Little Sister Can't Be this cute outsells Halo 5 in Japan.

Lol but seriously, this is so pointless who cares.

Lol, is that a real game?

Believe it or not it is more than just a game in Japan.

Super Mario 3D World will and should outsell Knack handily. It will be one of the first things I get when I finally get a WiiU.

However, my son and I had a blast playing Knack. So all of you bashing the game that haven't played it, piss off.

Nope, go read my first post in this thread. I simply said the game had hype and that's accurate. I never said people were hyped for it. Furthermore, if you search "hype" in this thread you'll see I'm not the only person with that thought.

You misinterpreted the way I used the word “hype.” No need to argue about it.

Don't really think it works that way man. By your definition every game has 'hype' because every game is promoted by its developer / publisher.

The general consensus for Knack was a resounding 'meh'. It drew very little praise and a whole lot of ambivalence.

As a launch exclusive, Sony obviously gave it some promotional space, but when even the creator of the game goes out to say that Knack is a 'second purchase' game that people buy in addition to a core title, you know it is heading to stink town.

It got a big enough push to be well a known title. It was also one of two first party launch titles. I'm simply putting out there the sales are weaker than I expected.

Its amazing how worked up some people get over that opinion. Surely nobody is impressed with Knack's performence.

You pretty much explained the reason there yourself. The reason it is a well known title is because it is one of the two first party launch title. Had this come out on the PS3 it would get as much publicity as the recent Ratchet game (none).

Knack is a bad game in a genre that no longer holds much relevance in today's market unless your name is Mario. The title had flop written all over it.

New person, same argument. Just go read what I said to others.

As I said before, I simply expected better numbers for a 1st party launch title with a 1st party push. You people keep getting upset over that, its amazing.

Eh... every game is promoted by its publisher, but there are different degrees of that.  For example, Call of Duty: Ghosts had tens of millions of dollars put into its marketing campaign.  Obviously it was more hyped by its publisher than a game like Inversion.

As for Knack, it had a pretty decent amount of hype.  It was, I believe, the first game showed off for the PS4.  Mark Cenry did a lot of interviews about it.  Being in every demo unit is a sort of hype (although Sony had little choice on that one as they couldn't put Killzone on the demo units).  It certainly had more hype and promotion than something like Puppeteer or Tearwaway.

At any rate, Knack's sales are decent for what it is.  It's sales are along the lines of other similarly promoted launch titles like Zombi U or so, and it has a decent shot of reaching 1 million if the PS4 maintains momentum.  Nothing wrong with its sales, but the comparison to Super Mario 3D World was stupid from the beginning.

Even if the PS4 contuines to sell well that doesn't really mean that Knack will get to a millon units because other games will be coming to compete for people's attention and money. I mean will Zombiu ever get to a million units if the Wii U;s sales pick up with all the new games coming for that system?

Its perfectly fine to have expectation, but honestly just how many game in the genre do well these days? How many are even produced?

Let's have a look at 2 game with similiar gameplay element that came out during christmas:

Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus: 280k (PS3)
Lego Marvel Super Heroes: 190k (PS4) 570k (PS3)

Both are superior games, Ratchet is on a system with more than 10 times the userbase as the PS4 and Lego Marvel is a plain better game AND has 2 huge draw in the form of Lego and Marvel IP.

The game was mediocre at best and if it wasn't a launch title for the PS4 would be doing worse and be relegaded to the bargain bin by Christmas.

And as a side note, I'm not upset (hopefully I can convey this by holding a conversation without any attack) It's a discussion, so chillout! :)

The only person out to get you is the purple Martian hiding in the wall...

That´s the reason for this thread. Comparing those games is ridiculous and silly. A dumb example of how immature fanboys use anything to fill up their egos.
