Forums - Nintendo - Star Fox could become a big gun for Nintendo if done correctly

I don't think 'hardcore' gamers want to play as animals anymore.

If you ask me, Rare back in the day had the right idea with Starfox adventures.

I think thats the only way the game can work. Zelda knockoff with spaceship levels here and there.

If they do make another Starfox, then I hope it's like the SNES or N64 games. The fact that they recently remade 64 on 3DS sure gives some hope of this.

The topic is about the game becoming a big gun for Nintendo not another minor game to feed nintendo core only. Nintendo should be aiming to make the franchise sell 5million+. Outdate game mechanics on its own will not achieve this.

You're cool man, you really are but NO no no no no no. NO. You cant have your cake and eat it too, people want that classic Star Fox feeling, which judging by sales I say people WANT Star Fox 64 stuff, the thing is and what gamers dont and refuse to understand is that type of game has a ceiling and its not 5 million sales, not even close. You cant have a classic Star Fox game and have it do Smash bros numbers its not gonna happen.

It really saddens me, unless you own stock in Nintendo why do you care what the game sells? especially at those unrealistic numbers. What happened to just having the game be good. They tried to "evolve" Star Fox and look how well that has worked out for them. And lets not blame install base. Other Ninty games had much better sales that both Star Foxes on GC, DS had a large install base, nobody cared. I dont know whats going on with 3ds must have hit that ceiling I was talkng about.

A great campaign that can be done co operatively online with multiplayer death matches would be a winner! Get a team to produce it who really know how to use the Wii U architecture and this could be huge...

Then F-Zero please!!!!!!

Agreed, 4-player online co-op and massive dogfights have immense potential. Give it to Retro Studios and develop it as Nintendo's flagship online multiplayer experience.

This game could be amazing if done right. Foot missions and sky missions.
Open on a base on a random planet. Lasers firing up into the sky, sirens going off. Two of Fox's team's Arwings flying over head, blasting at a few other enemy ships.
Peppy over the radio: "Fox, old buddy, you almost done? We're getting hammered up here!"
A steel door is shown, bursting open, Fox and Falco running out. Both of them out of breath. Fox with a stolen item in his hand.
Fox radios back; "Well, Peppy, we found the *insert stolen item's name here*, but we've got company."
Falco: "Yeah, forgetting or invites to the party didn't work out for us very well."
Peppy and Slippy still firing at enemy jets over head, Slipping hitting one. Peppy takes a shot from behind.
Peppy: "Any chance you could hurry along? I don't like our odds up here. There aren't enough barrel rolls on Corneria to dodge these guys."
Fox: "Understood, Peppy." Fox turns to Falco. Fox: "Let's get up there."
This then starts a foot mission, Fox and Falco blasting there way through a base to find the Arwings they left hidden with cloaking or some other cleaver idea. As they blast off, they get a quick tutorial on how to fire/control am Arwing. Then after blasting down a few things, a smaller end boss shows up. After fighting it, the team realizes they can't win, this was something they didn't see coming (due to some new power the enemy has. As the boss gloats, and is about to fire a kill shot, Great Fox blasts the boss, doing massive damage. The team cheers, then fire upon the weaken enemy, destroying it. They then fly off into space.

Seems easy to me, to make something like this happen. Missions that change, toss in some old references to past games... Boom, $$,

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

The topic requires that another Starfox game be made. I'm simply stating what I'd want from it. Also, what you're saying is just an assumption. The last new true to roots Starfox game was way back on the N64, so we don't know how well a new mainline game would sell now.

The recent games in the sereis have severely damaged the Star Fox brand I'm afraid.
Star fox's purpose is also a bit outdated.

Perhaps Nintendo could make a new starship game IP, with more freedom of movement and modern elements?

I LOVE ICELAND!

I think you are into something here, the characters are already there, and you can have both a good single player and online multiplayer experience, they can even add a 8 vs mode (4 vs 4) using star wolf. But I don't want the developer to be platinum or Retro, I want Nintendo to give the opportunity to Treasure and support them with an internal studios that handle the technical stuff.

I don't care about sales but the guy is correct. I made this thread stating that Star Fox could potentially be a big seller for Nintendo. I think it definitely could, if done right. They need to make it modern but SF64 elements could of course be brought in. Why not 2 games in one almost? Have a mission mode that is 3 to 4 hours long in the same style as SF64 but the main story be off rails? It could work.

then why even make a thread about it being a big seller if you dont care might i ask? We're going to have to agree to disagree i dont see it. I honestly dont think Ninty internal studios have it in them or care. It might be a good game, but it sounds expensive and Ninty probably isnt going to want to invest, not with the numbers the series has done in the recent years.
