Forums - Nintendo - Wii games with the best stories

Xenoblade Chronicles takes it for sure, though I foresee a lot of people choosing that.

The overarching story of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn was fantastic, and since the latter game was on the Wii, I'll have to choose that one as well. My only complaint with it was how certain key points could only be seen through supports or on the 2nd+ playthrough of a linked game (i.e. Soren's backstory). Even without that though, I thought the unified story was phenomenal.

I might get some flack for this one, but I liked the story of Skyward Sword. The childhood friend relationship between Link and Zelda really compelled me to keep playing, and I found the Hylia reveal near the end to be a great twist.

Well, since you guys already stated the obvious, I will state an hidden gem imo... Its called Fragile Dreams... It is a story about a boy and a girl in a post apocalyptic world where most of the humans are dead but only a few survive... Its a dark and sad tale

And the of the visuals are just so damn stunning.. The controls are ass but good enough to play the game... The story, characters and the visuals are the key to the game, the gameplay itself is not very good

Xenoblade has a pretty interesting story, I'm not all the way into it but still it looks good.

Uh, I don't know... The Conduit? It's got some weird story stuff, especially in the second game.

I never really played Wii games for their story...

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

This thread reminds me I haven't played Xenoblade...someday...someday...

Anyway, now that I think about it, I don't have any Wii game where I can say "damn that story is freaking amazing" like Bioshock or 999 for example. But the stories that I enjoyed on the Wii were:

- Metroid Prime 3
- Super Paper Mario (sad that the gameplay wasn't so good)
- Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword (this is probably because I'm a Zelda fanboy more than anything else)
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

New Super Mario Bros Wii. A story so good that it could be told over and over again, forever.

And it shall be told over and over again, forever...

Fragile Dreams, has the best story imo by a fair margin out of the games I've played.
it's not a very good game though.

Pandora's Tower I liked a lot too and is an okay game.

Skyward Sword's story is cute, and has bad pacing towards the middle end. But is a good good game.

Xenoblad Chronicles: Because is epic in scale
No More Heroes: Because is bonkers and fun
Fragile Dreams farewell ruins of the moon: Because is so sad and emotive

I expected to see a lot of picks for XBC, and I am not disappointed. That game stuck with me long after finishing, as you can see by my man crush Dunban in my avatar.

Seeing some of the other mentions reminds me that I still have a long way to go in my Wii collection. I have The Last Story and Fragile Dreams sitting in their shrink wrap right now. While I wouldn't say No More Heroes has a great "story," but it has interesting characters, and deconstructs the concept of the action hero and otaku protagonist.

I know it's a port of a PS2 game, but I'd like to add Okami to the list. It really did out-Zelda both of the Zeldas in every way, story included.

top 5 in order:
5. Metroid other M. i'm completely serious. had it's faults for sure, but I enjoyed the overall plot and 90% of the cinematic sequences.
4. silent hill: shattered memories. I dug the modernized take on a cult (npi) classic (story wise)
3. Zelda skyward sword: loved the origin story and increase in character importance
2. the last story: my only regret is that they didn't add the 10 hours of game and story to perfect the game. (they definitely skipped some things and just threw them in at the end)
1. xenoblade chronicles. you live on dormant giants....
