Forums - Microsoft - Turn 10 Admits "Night Racing and Weather is Not a Minor Thing to Add"

Just a few games that have a 24 hour time and weather cycle. Need for Speed Rivals, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Test Drive Unlimited 2, DriveClub,

Need for Speed Underground and Underground 2 have rain, fog, and night driving. :p

Love the day and night cycle in Forza Horizon they just need to extent it and slow it down a bit for Horizon 2.  Also if they keep the setting in Colorado adding rain and snow would be nice.

Forza Horizon has a good day and night cycle also they just need to add weather effects for the sequel.

As you can see from my sig, I am a strong proponent of sticking with 7th gen hardware.

It will be there for Forza 6.

You have to give them credit though. They won't add anything that doesn't live up to their standards for the sake of just matching the competition. Turn 10 has always been that way and I can appreciate that.

Forza 5 disagree... some assets used are way worst than the same in Forza 4... so their standards are mixed.

I will give my take here... they need to remade the Forza engine to add these features... they have a pre-backed engine and while they don't make a dinamic engine you won't see these features in Forza

I don't think Horizon has dynamic lighting and it has night racing and a pretty good day and night cycle.

Same excuse as for Forza 4

“Every version we explore night and weather. We whittle down thousands of ideas, and we have these autonomous teams. We hire specialists. We build the game like an onion. At its core is a drop-dead amazing simulation engine. But we always assume we’re wrong, and then find the best way to make it better. It’s that commitment that makes me confident we have the strongest simulation, because we build partnerships other companies just can’t, and we have a commitment to getting it right at our core.”

“We then build assists and fun gameplay and things on top of it without ever sacrificing that. Well, part of that is a solid 60 frames per second. And I mean solid. When you start doing multiple projected shadows off of the front of the car… we have 16 players, so 16 cars times two, so 32 projected shadows. That is a very graphically intense thing.”

If they can't make it happen on new hardware, why all of a sudden for Forza 6?

Shadows don't add to the gameplay, different time of day and weather do, get your priorities away from PR screenshots.

Sig would've been better if it included Fithter Within and it's legendary metacritic score.

I don't think that was a heavily pushed 1st party game.

You should have said Ryse, that would have some validity.

Yeah, but like he said, that probably took some time to do.

I'm pretty sure that Horizon 2 will have a even better day night cycle then the first game and probably weather effects also. I t will probably end up with a higher metascore then Forza 5.  Turn 10 just needs to borrow a few people from Playground Games to implement night racing in Forza 6 I'm sure they can help them with weather effects also.

Turn 10 have a contract with Microsoft to have Forza out every two years.
