Just for the record, mine is 28"

About the op, 3dworld is selling terrible by the standar of the franchise, but some people forget the current userbase of the wii u

There has to be some kind of argument to make one group feel better than the other.  Soooo you take your choice, Calculator wars,(metacritic) P.Wars (Pixel), or whoever sells the most(in this case lets cherry pick UK).

As for 3D World, the WiiU has one of the best games this year.  Knack......well it's Knack so obviosly it is the best game ever!

Really don't worry about it so much.  3D World will be fine and has been doing fine so far.

nothing makes me feel better about it :/

It's not selling terrible, it's just not that many consoles out there yet.

Yep.

The main problem is that 3D world was considered to be a big system seller for Nintendo. Sure it has sold great for the installed base Wii U has, but at the same time it has done little to expand that installed base, which is very worrying for Nintendo.

Considering the amount of Wii Us out there, it's not doing bad. Sure, the game deserves more sales, lots more. It's up to nintendo and their new savior (this time for real) DK: Tropical Freeze to get as many Wii Us out there as possible. Hopefully in turn, the sales for 3D World will pick u as well.

It's actually probably selling fairly equivalently to Super Mario Galaxy given the size of the userbase. Lets look at Japan:

100k SM3D World opening week on 1.1 million Wii Us

260k Super Mario Galaxy opening week on 3.75 million Wiis

Actually a higher percentage of Wii U owners bought Mario 3D World over Galaxy.

The Wii U is just in a very tough spot hardware wise Nintendo made the horrible, horrible mistake of betting the entire console on the game pad idea that no one asked for and yet again making a console out of step with modern technological trends.

That said I think Mario will have legs. Mario always has legs, and beyond that, Mario 3D World will remain the top Wii U game for a while IMO. EAD Tokyo is simply Nintendo's best developer ... it's not even close any more. The only game I think in terms of sheer quality/Metascore that could knock Mario 3D World would be Zelda or the next EAD Tokyo Mario ... both of which are probably a long ways off.

So Mario 3D World should continue to have a higher adoption rate for people buying the console, it will get up to 4.5-5 million LTD IMO.

Attach rate will always be higher for lower install bases though. Mario Galaxy 2 opened to 340k in Japan with a 10m userbase.

A game would need to sell 25mil week one on the 360 to have the same attach rate as Halo 3 did. Install bases only make a big difference for launch titles. After that here is huge diminishing returns. As another example Grand Theft Auto 5 had absolutely massive hype. It still had a much smaller attach rate than Grand Theft Auto 4.

Though I do agree with you that the game will end up selling well. But I also think it will be a significant decline from Mario Galaxy.

I think it's more to do with the fact that people thought this was going to be a huge system seller for the WiiU. Which it wasn't, the hardware bump has been minuscule for such a critically acclaimed title. It should have moved a lot more WiiUs, but now we're hearing reports about how the system only did 150k this month in the US. Of course that's just a prediction, so take it with a grain of salt.

wrong, especially for a title that will keep respectable weekly numbers for years to come.

He's not talking about Mario sales he's talking about what it did to Hardware sales.

OT: I guess people just expect huge numbers because it's Mario, it's doing as well as can be expected given the userbase, and yes it will outsell Knack WW.

I'm talking about hardware too. mario will keep respecatble numbers every week because many will buy the console and 3d world together.

If it wasn't starting so slowly compared to previous 3D Mario games, then no one would be talking. It's only a topic because it's selling much worse than it deserves.

I think people thought it would sell more consoles right the first sales. But like it was with Super Mario 3D Land, it will sell the console over time, Wii U is selling better each week since price cut and Wind Waker even with the adjustments and since SM3DW it is doing even more better. It was not meant to be THE systemseller, the game is A systemseller, the first big in a row of systemsellers.

Man, it's like people expected Wii U will sell over 1 Million in the first week of SM3DW, jezuz.
