Forums - Nintendo - Digital Foundry vs SM3DWorld. Those framerate drops...

A game that could easily run on the Wii aside from being in HD, I sure hope it could run at 60fps.

Here's an image of Super Mario Galaxy upscaled to 720p on the Dolphin Emulator.  If comparing to the Wii and not an upscaled image, resolution aside, Super Mario Galaxy looks a whole hell of a lot better than Super Mario 3D World.

In turn, the Wii wasn't as horrible as a console for graphics after all. Interesting!

If you put its games on a dolphin emulator of course

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Those framerate drops are nowhere to be seen, all while running at a super smooth 60fps.

Your talking absolute nonsense. The lighting, textures, geometry, water and rain effects are all at least a generation above SMG just as they should be.

The reason we need HD is because we want bigger screens. If you put an SD image on a small screen, your eyes are seeing basically the same thing as if you put an HD image on a big screen -- just a lot smaller.

When you up-res something, the graphics don't change. Only the size of the image changes.

Or on a widescreen 480P CRT TV(480P Plasma should work too).

Terrible title, since the whole point was the frame rate doesn't drop, your title makes it sound like there's an issue.

What would I need to change it to for you to not complain about it?

You also say I was wrong about 720p/60fps.It is native 720p upscaled to 1080p.

Upscaled =/= Native 1080p.

Did you not read the article at all?

"Assets appear to have been created from the ground up for the Wii U this time around and image quality is sharp and clean, operating with a full 1280x720 framebuffer. "

If it was running in 1080p native it would have been 1920x1080.

Don't listen to him, the title is perfect. It lures all the haters into the thread thinking they'll get to bash the game, only to see that they'll have to settle for, "Psh, big whoop."

I must've missed that announcement. I think I've also seen some people recently making fun of PS4One (One more so), because Mario was 1080p60fps and many exclusives on PS4One are not (One more so).

Looks good though

well, Mario is in 1080p. Mario Kart that is :P

Yeah.

I'm actually going to want a source this time.

It was created that way for (2) reasons actually.

1.) For the haters to click on the thread and prepare to write some "Hahaha, WiiU can't even run Mario without frame drops", only to read the opening line and be severely disappointed that they were fooled. :(

2.) For the WiiU defenders to click on the thread and prepare to write some "Who cares? The game still looks incredible and DF sucks anyways", only to read the opening line and be very happy that they were fooled.

please don't feed me that bullshit I have seen the difference between upscaled and native before and no, sd images on small screens don't look as good as
an hd image on a big screen. by that logic I wouldn't see any difference when watching a video on youtube going from sub 480p to full hd, my screen size doesn't change does it.

It's a beautiful game and I can't wait to acquire it. Certainly looks better than a lot of what I've seen on the Xbox 360.
