I can understand people saying "they are optional, you can still grind for rewards"

But its just disheartening to play like some 500+ hours all in order to get to some car you wanted and then having 1,000 spoiled adults/kids using it for months cause they popped down $100 on it.

Makes me not want to even try. Imagine if you could buy achievement or trophy's with microtransactions. How cool would platinum trophy's be then. You worked your ass off to get your 10 plat trophies and you some other gamers tag showing he has 32 platinum trophies. Then you wonder how many did he earn, how many did he buy. And then so does everyone else looking at yours. They see your 10 trophies and wonder if you earned any of them or just bought them.

That's the feeling I get when they add microtransactions to in-game rewards. It turns me off from playing it.

There's still your racer level that can't be bought that will restrict what cars you can buy.

Anyway how is someone buying it for $100 different from car dupes, save game editors and B-Spec grinding to get cars fast. Racer level became an unreliable metric too when people found glitches to drive 200 laps underneath certain tracks in 10 minutes.

Trophy count and gamerscore don't mean much either with easy plat games, trophy guides, hacks and people sharing accounts. The $100 paying category will be a minority. Just play games for fun, it's no a status symbol.

That said,  microtransactions suck, period. Although I don't care about people showing up with real money bought cars, I am worried it will at some point affect the game economy. I've seen what selling characters and money online in mmorpgs does to the game. Luckily GT6 doesn't have an online auction house.

It's sad that my two most wanted games in December 2013 both have microtransctions in it (Bravely Default and GT6).

From a gamer&consumer point-of-view this business model is completely arsinine. You already pay between 45 - 70€ per game and now (while not being mandatory....so far) you can pay extra to unlock things faster. It won't affect the normal consumer that was accostumed to unlock things the hard way, but will take away from the feeling of acomplishment, as anyone with a large enough wallet can easily get the same things you worked hundreds of hours to get.

From a developer/publisher point-of-view this model makes sense as it's pretty successful in the F2P system, so it was only a matter of time until it was used in full priced games.

My biggest fear is how far they're going to push this system, that's why I said "so far" in a previous paragraph. I don't doubt for a second that some greedy publisher/developer is going to use this system to sneakly block some content or make it hard enough that's almost impossible to complete that content without any kind of microtransactions, a la "candy crush".

Yeah that's how I feel about it.

It will happen, and the thing is, People are impulsive and have spent thousands of dollars on some games like the candy crush you mention. I think unfortunately this will be successful. The people spending money on dumb things will outweigh the people not buying it on principle.  Which would make this model overall a success. It will slowly creep on more an more things, this is essentially an extension of DLC and it's becoming more and more nickel and diming you.

Some people like CD Projekt might not implement it, but my prediction is that MS, Sony, SE, Activision, EA, Capcom or most of the big name publisher will adopt this.

I'm calling it. This game will gonna have the same review score as forza 5 or even more worse.

lol just lol, for GT6 to score as bad as forza 5 PD would have to remove over 70% of the content, for me i couldn't care less what it scores i'm still getting it and i'm still going to play it just like i have with GT5, ps GT5 scored more than forza 5 so for GT6 to score less than forza 5 it would have to be worse than GT5, not going to happen lol.

Current PC build:

Asus Z97I-Plus, i5 4790K @ 4.6ghz, EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 1377/1853/124%, Corsair Vengence Pro 2400mhz 2x 8192mb, Corsair RM850, Corsair H80i, 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD, 750GB Seagate Momentus XT SSHD, 320GB Weston Digital HDD, Corsair 230T, Corsair K50 Raptor, HP XQ500AA mouse, Windows 10 Pro 64bit. iiyama Pro Lite G2773HS 120Hz 1Ms G2G gaming monitor.

It looks like at least one person in NA bought the 7 million in game credit.

And if the post above me is true, at least one person has already used that system in a 60$/70€ game. I'm all up for letting people spend their money as they see fit, but the problem is that the grand majority of the consumers just don't care if their actions affect negatively on an industry as a whole.

It's worrying when you think about where microtransactions will lead down the road. A lot of people thought that DLC was the epithome of nickel and diming back in 2006 and now something much worse reared it's ugly head on this generation.

there are far worse examples of games heavily forcing micro transactions ie "real racing 3" or "GT racing 2", both of these games deliberately make you earn little in the way of rewards and have time penalties when upgrading/repairing vehicles which lets you bypass this time restriction by using two forms of game currency, GT6's micro transactions are not forced onto the player like they are in the two mentioned " " racing games.

Those are F2P games, not fully priced games. If GT6 or any full priced games used a deliberate "paywall" to allow you to actually make progress in game, then gaming would be as good as dead.

Sadly, if the microtransactions on F2P are anything to go by, if they actually become "sucessful" on full priced games, then, eventually, the day will come that some greedy developer or publisher is gonna implement the same system on a 60$/70€ game.

i dont get it, why do people need achievments?? even glueing a puzzle and hanging it on the wall makes more sense in my opinion.

Ban Microtransactions!
