Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 6 microtransaction pricing revealed - Jag XJ13 - £119.95

Not cool. Though if, as the guy in the articlesaid, the money you get from races and car prices are very similar to GT5then I dont see this as much of a problem.

I don't think it's an issue with Gran Turismo 6 as long as they didn't severely nerf the amount of credits you obtain, as it's easy to obtain well into the millions after far less than an hour of grinding in Gran Turismo 5.

From what I've read, you get a very low credit value for winning races in Forza 5.  110,000 in 15 minutes by taking advantage of a flaw in the system?  Do the same on GT5 and it's a couple million.

So you don't know how much credits but use it as an argument to show why GT6 is less bad? And also what about the difference in ingame car prices for both games?

Microtransaction are a brilliant idea. They are done to trick people to spending more cash cause cleary the author doesn't know ecomonics well.

500,000 In-Game Credits (£3.99/€4.99)

1 Million In-Game Credits (£7.99/€9.99)

2,500,000 In-Game Credits (£15.99/€19.99)

7 Million In-Game Credits (£39.99/€49.99)

The video, below, showcases GT6's cars and reveals one of the top priced, the Jaguar XJ13, which costs 20 million credits. You can grind for it in traditional Gran Turismo fashion or you can buy it straight away if you drop £119.95 - that's the total you pay for

two packs of 7m credits +

two packs of 2.5m credits +

one pack of 1m credits.

= 20m credits

OR

 3 x 7million credits =  21m so 1million extra for a mear 2 cents extra lol

At least the prices scale, the largest packs in forza 5 cost more than buying multiple smaller packs, and they had the cheek of labeling the most expensive (least credit per cent) items with "recommended" and "best value".

Sure, same applies to Forza games...

I don't care who does it, but micro-transactions in a 60 dollar game is complete bullshit IMO...

I have to agree. Its coming to a point where it really isnt confortable anymore. It was one thing to have cosmetic options, but when content starts beeing after a paywall when you already payed 60 dollars/euros you are beeing raped in the bum.

With that said, GT is not doing it nearly as bad as Forza 5. End of the day, these cars are already in game from what i gather and its only the special editions you pay for. If they can all be aquired with in-game credits aslong as they dont make the progression purposely slower, its ok.

It's sad that my two most wanted games in December 2013 both have microtransctions in it (Bravely Default and GT6).

From a gamer&consumer point-of-view this business model is completely arsinine. You already pay between 45 - 70€ per game and now (while not being mandatory....so far) you can pay extra to unlock things faster. It won't affect the normal consumer that was accostumed to unlock things the hard way, but will take away from the feeling of acomplishment, as anyone with a large enough wallet can easily get the same things you worked hundreds of hours to get.

From a developer/publisher point-of-view this model makes sense as it's pretty successful in the F2P system, so it was only a matter of time until it was used in full priced games.

My biggest fear is how far they're going to push this system, that's why I said "so far" in a previous paragraph. I don't doubt for a second that some greedy publisher/developer is going to use this system to sneakly block some content or make it hard enough that's almost impossible to complete that content without any kind of microtransactions, a la "candy crush".

i got no problem with microtransactions if all they are is a shortcut for people who dont have the time to grind out the same stuff.  But when the games start to be developed to make it so that microtransactions are needed thats where they will kill the industry, people will stop buying 60$ games if thats the case.   Microtransactions are good for people who dont mind spending the cash to get something they dont want to grind for, bad if they make the game to force everyone to buy stuff .  Ryse comes to mind as microtransaction hell, friend of mine bought it to play single player only to find out he would have to play online or spend cash to get the armour he needs.  to me thats bullshit forcing people to play online or buy stuff to play the single player campaign.
