If by "people doing the same as if they were still 8" means playing great quality games, count me in. Sega made games by that time but now their situation is almost irrelevant as to what it was in the past. Same goes for Konami (my personal favourite growing old) - which today only relies on football and one or other good game - Square, Capcom and others, to talk about the ones that could go on (Acclaim died, THQ died and so forth. Plus, I think you meant to say "keep on" instead of "carry on").

Not Nintendo! They kept releasing incredible games since the time I was 8. For the more "mature" games that people insist in saying are for the ones who grew old (and usually teens say that) , I can always use my PC, thank you.

The fact that, aesthetically, some games Nintendo develops look kiddy has nothing to do with the experience. But you can always suit yourself to not liking them. I respectfully think its your loss.

You are in the minority, and it's not only his loss, it's the loss of a large majority, a majority that means money for Nintendo, money they are losing. So in the end, it's also very much Nintendo's loss.

@OP. The NeoGeo was unaffordable. Look into vg history and you'll see why the Neo Geo failed. Imho the WiiU's price is also too high, but nothing compared to the unaffordable Neo Geo.

Thanks for the comment. I think you are so right about it.

As to NeoGeo, I was using it as a kind of absurd comparison and intended to mean just what you said. Sorry for any confusion.

Man, you have to  stop eating rotten food. I know it tastes a little bit better, but it's taking a toll on your health.

LOL

@ Duck: why all the hate?

No hate. It's just one of the corniest things I've ever seen.

Frankly it's pretty gross. And that's coming from someone who likes corn.

And it comes from a Nintendo Investors report. Go figure.

BTW, you are the first here to not like it.

Maybe thats the problem. Nintendo are hoping just because people grew up with their games they will keep buying them for the rest of their lives.

There are some people that carry on doing what they used to do when they were 8 years old, but most people change.

Sony and MS offer games for a much wider audience than nintendo do so its natural they can expect more sales.

MS on one hand have kinectimals while on the other have gears of war.

Sony range from littlebigplanet to god of war

I know nintendo are trying to broaden their demographic, with games like zombieU & bayonetta, but why would they pick that game to do it when it couldnt even manage 2m sales on ps360? and 1 game a year isnt going to cut it, they need 2-3 hardcore exclusives every year to raise a level of expectation from consumers that it wont only be making kiddy games anymore.

I respect your opinion, and understand people do carry over some hobbies from their childhood, but im just stating the fact that peoples wants and needs change with time. Not everyone wants to play the same type of games they did when they were small.

The more you change the more you experience so respectfully, I think its your loss.

Wii U is less powerful than the ps3 and 360. It is also more expensive than both. The ps360 have an amazing library of games. Online is better on ps360 and third party will continue to support sony and microsoft consoles for 2-3 years. Wii U needs the soccer moms and elderly back to succeed. Nintendo themsleves push their hardcore fans away with all their minigame casual game shovelware. I was a nintendo fan i played prime 3 SMBB galaxy 1 and 2 twilight princess mario kart sonic and the escret rings link crossbow training sonic unleashed and many more. Then they got caught up with wii music wii fit and all that stuff and thats when i got a ps3 and never looked back. Oh and i hate myself for this but i will buy a wii u for smash bros mario kart and lets hope galaxy 3

LOL wut? Well, no reason to take the bait, I'll stop here.

@ fps_d0minat0r: who ever said people cannot get new experiences? I probably played the first Doom before many others even heard of it, just to give an example. What I meant is, you CAN play Nintendo's games without being forbidden to play other things. But with all due respect the argument that their games are only good out of nostalgia is totally wrong. Otherwise all the Sonics over the last years would be major hits amongst critics. Also, look at the latest installments in the Final Fantasy series to understand what I mean.

actually wii u is more powerful and can be proven in many ways

one the die size of the gpu even without edram is enough to fit a redwood xt which has 400 spus 20tmus and 8 rops, so the power could be around 450 to 500 gigaflops depending on what nintendo gave priority to among the spus tmus and rops

second way, power consumption

yhanks to the department of energy we now know that wii u consumes more than 63 watts since the power supply is class a level v, which means efficiency is more or equal to 87%, about 20 watts besides those 33 watts that ports use are not being wated, so even if i consider 15 watts for the gpu that could give around 247 gigaflops since an e6760 for exaple has a performance of 16.5gigaflops per watt, sum those flops with the flops that the gpu already uses in the ports in those 33 watts and you surely get around 500 gigalops

is not that wiiu isnt powerful, is just that ports make it uhndeperfor since the 360 didnt have 32 megabytes of edra and 3 megabytes of cache, so the source code only tkes into account 1/3 of that and wates the additional embedded memory, not to mention that 360 code doesnt account a DSP and uses one of the 360 cores for sound, so when porting the same happens to wii u and a core is wasted for sound isntead of using it to speed things up

for me, and many others the sig would be more accurate if it said:

I grew out of Nintendo's games. Nintendo's games didnt grew up with me though.

sure when i was 7-11 i liked playing nintendo games. but then i grew up and out of nintendo games. Nintendo hasnt changed or grown up since, they are still the same kiddie games.

@ SocialistSlayer: the reply I gave above applies to you too.

The Wii U's main problem is being in the middle, it's aimed at two markets, falling between two chairs and it's squeezed between two generations of consoles.
The entire Wii U strategy was an incredibly poor one, they clearly didn't think things through at all this time around.

it belongs to one generation only and is aimed at the market nintendo always aimed: everyone, but with a focus on true hardcore gamers.

Bolded; good aim. Also; no, the Gamecube and N64 was aimed at hardcore Nintendo fans, the Wii aimed at casuals.

Italics; yeah, that's why they're more or less trying to sell it solely to kids and families now with their advertisement.

You really have no idea what you're talking about.  You probably think Nintendo is only Mario, Kirby, and Pokemon.  Yet it seems like you don't care to find out that Nintendo is also Zelda, Metroid, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Super Smash Bros, Star Fox, F-Zero, Golden Sun, EarthBound and more.

You're probably the same kind of person who thinks GTA and CoD are adult games, so playing them means you're mature.

I know but why would I play nintendo games if im not intereted in them anymore?

when I was a kid I also liked microscooters, but that doesnt mean I still use one even though it wont forbid me to use a car.

when I was a kid I also liked yoyos but that doesnt mean id play with one now even if it doesnt forbid me to play cards.

I wouldnt bother watching animated movies even though they dont forbid me from watching movies with realistic CGI

a lot of things are only good because of nostalgia and it probably includes a lot of the things I play now. maybe in 10 years time I wont enjoy shooters like I do today. maybe in 20 years time I wont enjoy simulators and maybe in 30 years time I wont enjoy gaming at all. At that time I 'COULD' still play games but why would I if im not interested anymore?
