Forums - Sales - Final Fantasy XIII-3 And Mario 3D World Bomb In Japan (Also Vita TV Bomba!)

Wasn't the wii u under 10k last week, so it has doubled. Still poor sales granted but doubled week on week. And most people were predicting around 100k for mario in japan so not sure why you are so surprised?

It was a 32-44% boost depending on which tracker you are looking at.  Not double.

Also, out of 25 predictions in tbone's thread, only 6 predicted 100k or lower.  That was also after the already lowered expectations due to low preorder numbers from COMG and the 20% first day sellthrough.

I expected more from Mario 3D World and Wii U. Thought the HW would get a bigger boost; don`t know what Super mario 3D World digital sales are, so, can`t really say much.

Truth is, until Wii U gets a good line-up of japanese oriented titles, things won`t improve.

I did expect the Vita TV to do plumet hard ala PSP Go. This is harsh though.

Wii U is doing alright numbers, Mario won't boost for just one week but it isn't enough of course to save the Wii U. It needs a constant release of games which it isn't even getting anywhere close to. Even though the boost was disappointing I do think it will do alright numbers in the holiday season. I hope it can get to 100k in one week even though it looks like a long shot now.

Looks like a 277k opening for Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns and just shy of 100k for Mario 3D World.

Ouch. I think both companies' are guilty over oversaturating these brands with too many games in a short period of time.

Too bad for Mario 3D World though, that's genuinely a great game. Also people holding out hope for a big hardware bump for the Wii U -- nope.

21k this week only. Vita dropped like a freaking rock too, lol, dat Vita TV bomba, 7k this week.

It had one day one on sale. Which was Sunday.

been said in other thread the next week will determine if it did.

So I was wondering. Is this the end of the Wii U in japan? Can we call it a "dead" system there?

It looks like.

And... I said it, it was floping when the 20% sell throught numbers were given, yet some of you judged me.

Yep, you said it, we will never doubt you again pavolink

They were wrong in the other thread when they said it as well.  I'm assuming you're referring to Mario, but either way both it and Lightning Returns had four days of sales.

During the summer didn't Nintendo fans blame Pikmin 3 not being very popular in Japan for equal sales? So what's the excuse now? The Wii U has a problem that no amount of Nintendo games can fix, at least not old from known IPs.

Compared to VGchartz numbers FF XIII-2 did 538.000 in its first week.

How is it holding up in Japan in terms of reviews?

Wow, Vita TV is bombing. I thought it'd do better than that, but...

PSP GO: (week 1) 29,109 (week 2) 13,992

Vita TV: (week 1) 42,172 (week 2) 7,868

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

Lightning returns and Mario 3D world is what would any reasonable person would expect. In Mario 3D world's case we are talking about a game that will sell for years and will stay comparable to other Mario games. I'm the most surprised by how bad the Vita TV bombed in Japan.
