Common knowledge among those who know how this thing works.

The "jump" in visuals from PS360 to XB1/PS4 is so far the least impressive between generations since probably the jump from the NES / Master System to early Genesis/TG-16 games.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Amen.

The days of quantum leaps appear to be over.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Yeah, over the past 3 gens we witnessed the jump from 2D to early 3D, the jump from early 3D to way more advanced 3D, and then the jump to HD.  This generational leap will be judge more on a technical level of its games than on a visual level.

Next gen graphics don't suck. :)

If you're gonna show off 3D World, use pics that do it justice. :p

is that a gamecube game?

I agree with your point, but I'd go even further and say that even the NES/SMS to early 16 bit gap was bigger.  Maybe not regarding the TG16 launch games, but Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Space Harrier 2 on the Genesis were leaps and bounds above what we saw on the 8-bit consoles.

Don't get me wrong, guys; Ryse and Killzone SF are very impressive visually (finally got to play both first hand for quite a while now), but they're just not as big of a perceivable graphical leap over the best of the 7th gen as, say, Project Gotham Racing 3 on 360 was at launch over any 6th gen game.  The HD resolution difference alone was quite a jump.

Thankfully it's not Super Mario Sunshine...

While the graphics will no doubt improve and i think the Witcher 3 might be the first one, the difference from what we see now to the best we will see is smaller than the example you gave. This is because of diminishing returns due to the limits of the human eye.

Man I do love that trailer.  It looks so good. Yes, that and the new Solid Snake game look really, really good.

But I have been playing Ryse, and it looks quite majestic.  My friends are liking it too - so far it's really interesting and creative.  And it looks really impressive and next gen.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Diminishing returns. If most games look like TLOU ect on next gen then it's good enough for me (and most) those games won't look bad in 10 years like COD2 does now.
