Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Super Mario 3D World First Week Predictions! (Give A Seperate Answer for US/Japan/Europe)

Software is okay, but only 20k Wii U. That is sad.

Wii U pretty much done for in Japan and not looking good in Europe either.

GameCube part duex.

Nintendo really botched their entire 1st year software lineup ... why milk Mario so hard? It's not fair to the franchise that it has to suffer this with such a great game because Nintendo can't figure out what to do now that Wii Sports/Fit audience is gone.

You cannot throw Mario at every problem and expect to be bailed out. Its like a sports coach that has no other players he trusts so he rides the one star player into exhaustion.

And about Wii Sports Club ... looks like it's done jack all for Wii U sales in Japan.

Japan sales in. WiiU: 21000. SM3D World lowest debuting Mario game in the modern era. It prolly is over. Taiko no Tetsujin bombs.

The end.

Were the first week sales of the other Mario games also for just one day of the week?

while this is far from great, software is on the lower side of expected so i don't think we can quite call this terrible...3d mario hasn't really been as huge in japan as it probably should have been.

Additionally, in the week of SMG's release, Wii hardware was only boosted 25% and SMG2 only boosted hardware 15%...

its disappointing that this didn't "save" the wii u and i think we were all hoping for better but this is no further proof than what we had before...

now lets all hope for legs .-.

The software is kind of bad, but isn't that surprising. The hardware boost though is awful.

3D World had four days, so I'm not sure what point you're making.

Anyways, it is amazing how the Wii U has made predictions that would have been called trolling a reality.  Just imagine if a year ago someone had said a new 3D Mario would have a lower first week than Battlefield 4 in Japan.  Or that it would do less for hardware sales (both total and the boost) than Pikmin 3.

Not as much as the game deserves in all territories even if 100% of active Wii owners were to get it while finally upgrading to Wii U.

So what is Nintendo going to do with the Wii U in Japan?
