Forums - Nintendo - Why are there no FPS's on the 3DS?

Because people don't want to play fps on handheld consoles until the gameplay rivals that of consoles.

With that said, I haven't played Killzone Mercenary yet. But the Vita sticks and triggers are FAR inferior to consoles for shooting games, in my opinion. It's best for rpg or action/adventure.

The 3DS is still young. Give it a bit more time.

No.

in time hopefully =) definitely a good dev

Metroid Prime Hunters is a bad game. Stop trying to fool yourselves.

I don't care. The TPS offerings are strong enough, especially if we count Kid Icarus.

I guess it's because theres no second analogue stick. I don't why Nintendo did that. You would think they would learn from the PSP.

DS had no sticks and had quite a few FPS. Controls aren't the problem, as someone else already mentioned before. In fact, if anything, controls are the main reason anyone would put a FPS on 3DS: aiming with the touchscreen is, IMO, better than any other method other than Mouse+Keyboard.

I would prefer a second analog stick. Moving the camera view with stylus and bottom touch screen seems so clunky to me.

Have you ever played a FPS on the DS? Considering you are holding the console the right way(using the pinky finger to balance the right side of the system so you don't get hand cramps), it's quite possibly the most precise aiming system ever created outside of using a mouse. It's also quite intuitive, I mean, the moment I got to play Prime Hunters(which was my first DS FPS) I was already aiming correctly at targets easily. Can't say the same for analog aiming or even IR aiming(which is miles better than using an analog, IMO).

Ok, recommend me a good DS or 3DS shooter to try it out. It just don't seem right to me to control a shooter like this. Maybe i'm wrong though.
