Forums - Nintendo - WiiU - 3rd Party sales - first week of sale.

Now that all the 3rd party games holiday season have release in the USA, we can now compare the result from the first week sales.

The result were very disappointing since none of the game manage to sell more then 30k in the first week.

The best selling game was Batman: Arkham Origins ($49.99) which sold 29,633 in the first week as you know this game was 10$ less since multiplayer was missing. Seem like if the game sell for 10$ compare to current gen price of $59.99, publisher could expect to sell 25-35% more WiiU games.

Since going forward the 3rd party cross-platform games that will be ported & downgrade to play on the WiiU should the WiiU games have a lower MSRP price?  Would publisher want to bring their games to WiiU knowing that the MSRP would be lower?

If we assume that the retail margin is 40%...... if they sell 20,000 unites at 60$ the net revenue would be $720,000.00 (60% of total revenue).

If on the other hand they sold 25,000 units at $49.99 the net revenue would be $750,000 (60% of total revenue).

Publisher would benefit from selling at a lower MSRP if it can increase sales by 25%.

Isn't Sonic a 1st party title on Wii U? I thought Nintendo published the Wii U ver and Sega just did the 3DS ver? Really really surprised at how weak Sonic's debut was. I hope they find some legs, but I don't see it based on previous 3rd party Wii U sales :/

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Those are some terrible numbers indeed. Like Pachter has said in the past, Nintendo fanboys, you let Nintendo down.

But anyways, everybody knows that the Wii u won't get that much 3rd party support. Some games here and there from their biggest Japanese supporters (Sega, Capcom) and some here and there from western companies that publish all their games on every possible platform (Activision, Ubisoft) and a few minor games of course.

Haven't checked the numbers but I doubt that even the gamecube sold this badly when it comes to 3rd party game. Wasn't Tales of symphonia a great success for example ? the resident evil games?

Already bought Arkham Origins and planning on another one of those (CoD?, ACIV?), but money is a constrain right now, waiting for black Friday promotions.

Did you buy Arkham Origins because it was 10$ less then COD & ACIV or because that was your first choice?

Numbers look poor, Wii U owners really need to support these games more than this

Tagging, this ain't gonna be a nice view.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Well this is the USA results everyone waiting for Black Friday.

In my hometown, its mainly the two biggest toy store chains who carry large amounts of Nintendo content. Interestingly, they ONLY carry Nintendo 1st and 2nd party games. 3rd party games are completely absent. I know its anecdotal, but it kinda is food for thought.

^ There have been other reports like that saying CoD and AC4 weren`t even ordered by stores.
If they aren`t ordered they can´t sell.
