Is this about third party publishers not supporting the Wii U? Cause that is Nintendo fans' fault not anyone elses.

its nintendo's fault. not nintendo fans fault.

many factors. but when they build a console they pretty much build it then tell third partys hey come make games for it. Sony and MS on the other hand actually let third parties get involved in the creation of the consoles. their feedback and input is crucial. thats one of the many factors

This definitely is a factor as well, but if publishers knew that there was profit behind a Wii U version, then they'd make one. Just look at Battlefield 4, if that game can run on PS3/360 then it can run on Wii U as well, simple as that, EA just doesn't bother with a Wii U version cause there is no money in it. Corporations don't hold grudges against each other, they go where the cash is, when no one on Wii U buys third party games, then third parties won't bother with the Wii U.

One could argue that the Wii U is more of a second console and that people will buy their third party games on a MS or Sony console, but this is kinda disproven when even third party exclusives tank horribly on the console. Nintendo gamers want Nintendo games on their Nintendo console and don't care for much else on it.

It certainly seems like EA, Activision, and Ubisoft built a platform on which their games will sell by the truckload, then slapped Sony's name on it for good measure.

its just good business, its a win/win situation for third parties and sony/ms. and most important, good for the gamers.

I hate inconsistency.

4 ≈ One

Those sound like very good games and its good that the wii u has had some very good games in the latter part of this year. Still I agree with some others - they will likely be overshadowed the the ps4/x1 launchs. As for the power of the consoles, there wont be a huge difference right NOW between wii u and the ps4/x1 but as devs get better with those two the difference will be more marked. Nintendo exclusives will do fine but multi-plats will look worse and worse in comparison. I dont think this is something nintendo will be able to overcome this gen, unless they launch a new console reasonably quickly.

Nintendo fans have been condition for decades that third party offerings are subpar and Nintendo games are consistently top notch.  Is it really their fault for not picking up a $50 game that they expect to be subpar, when there's a Nintendo game sitting next to it that they know will be top notch quality?

Besides, the majority of Nintendo fans also game on other platforms, which consistently has the better multiplat version.

*On topic, power is definitely not needed to make great games.  However, I believe that 3rd parties DO need more power to make better games.  I think they need it to cover up what would otherwise be very mediocre games.  The gen just started though, and there will be amazing games on both the ps4 and xb1, which will be made even better by that extra power. ...

Yes, if Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo software for the Wii U, then it is their fault if the publishers don't want to support it. That whole "expecting games to be subpar"-point is mute since we live in a time where most people carry a device with them, through which they can easily check hundreds of different opinions on games before deciding which to buy. So if Nintendo fans only want Nintendo games, then that's what they'll get, they just shouldn't complain about it.

I don't think it is a moot point.  CoD on Ps2 only sold a couple million units because it was new to the userbase.  It's the same situation on Nintendo consoles.  Regardless of what a game gets reviewed, if you have no connection to it (or if your connection has always been negative/dissapointing) you're not likely going to buy it.  If you're disspointed in the first iteration of anything, you're not going to buy the sequel (let alone take time to care about it's reviews)

Third parties won't just randomly end up with a userbase to sell to, they have to foster it.  It's no different than any other product in the world.  Movies don't just sell well because they are highly rated.  A lot of highly rated movies don't sell well at all.  A lot of poorly rated movies sell great.  It all depends on if the studio promotes and fosters interest in their product.  Third parties have done a great job promoting and fostering interest in their product on Sony and Microsoft platforms - not so much on Nintendos.  Blaming the consumer for that is outrageous.  Blame Nintendo if you want (it's partly their fault), but to pretend 3rd parties didn't have a hand in it is nothing more than wilfull ignorance.

I agree with you. Two people on my job have PS4's and one of them is so excited about his Xbox One, it's embarrassing. I told one of them I was getting Arkham City on the Wii U and I got laughed at. Anyway, I asked each one of them, on different occasions, what are they buying for their new console. All of them said Call of Duty. One of them wrongly believed that he'd be playing Call of Duty on his PS4 against people that own it on PS3. I quit arguing with him. I'm sure he's learned the truth by now.

What the heck? I just don't see the point of buying a new console now just to play the exact same game. I'm looking forward to Friday like it's Christmas come early because I NEED that new Mario game. NSMBU didn't do it for me at all. When the newer consoles offer compelling content, I'll upgrade and not a day before. Power doesn't equal fun. It never has.

You would love my cousin. Remember SEGA Channel? The OG PS+ that was way, way, way ahead of it's time? He had it for a while, and all he ever wanted to play was freaking Street Fighter 2. He would get every new Sega and Sony console just for the lastest Madden/NBA Live/2K Football and B-Ball. Meanwhile, he thinks I'm homo for trying out some game called "Conker's Bad Fur Day" and  wondering what this "Final Fantasy VII" is all about.

great power comes with great responsibility... and a lot more $$$

i don't see a reason to buy a ps4 or an xbox one without the games that i want... early adapters will buy it even if there are a few games available... even if you can play it with the console you already own....

heck i still dont have wii u.....

but claiming that the best game comes from the weakest console is very subjective to the taste of games that people want to play... and wii u will be out for almost a year now. Give ps4 and xbox one a full year and im pretty sure you will see a universaly acclaimed game from those system (exclusive or not.)

let's be patient people... we are not virgins here... we don't want premature ejaculations :)
