Forums - Sales - PS4 has already outsold the WiiU in USA in 2013 sales.

I'm just going to say that people are being proud for no reason. If launch sales were so important to the success of the console, then Wii U wouldn't be in the trouble it is now. The PS4 can easily fall into the exact same trap the Wii U did. I think Sony fans will actually have something to brag about if it continues past January 2014, otherwise this news means very little. Also, one of the Wii U's several big hitters haven't come out yet (just a few more days).

More likely Nintendo fans are in for some serious crow eating the next 2-3 months.

Sony's audience -- the hardcore gamer is still there, and Sony was smart enough to make a straight forward next-gen machine and sell it at a resonable price. They're being rewarded for making smart moves during the development of the system.

Nintendo decided to do their own thing again but have been abandoned by the casual audience that drove the Wii to its huge success, and by also alienating the core gamer last gen, they're finding that the hangover from the Wii era is looking real rough.

To be honest, I don't think the market is so simple.  To a certain degree you will be able to predict how they will act.  However, I don't think anyone here truly knows the market well enough to know how this really will end up.  Most people go by the people they see around them and judge how the market is based off of that, but there's much more to it than that.  There are many people we don't see, as well as many factors unseen.  Nintendo tends to hide their hand until it's almost time to release said hand.  Whether or not that will help at all is yet to be seen, and while I agree that your last statement has some truth to it, I can't say that it's the actual reason for what's going on.

Crow eating? Ninty and Nintendo fans will watch the highest debuting platform of all time take an asskicking to 3DS next year so no not really.

3DS is not "asskicking" anything IMO, it had a nice surge for the holidays with Nintendo throwing everything they can at it (Pokemon X/Y, 2DS, etc.), but it's general Jan-September sales were nothing to write home about. It's no DS. Only in Japan is it really a dominant platform IMO, here it's barely eeking out wins versus really weak competetion like the 8 year old 360.

The fact is I think like an insidious cancer, the smartphone/tablet revolution slowly but surely is damaging the handheld market as each day marches on, more and more kids are being introduced to gaming on those platforms.

And your proof of this is 3DS ass raping PS3 currently? Ok bud keep on whining while 3DS keeps on selling. It doesnt need to be a "DS" to beat these platforms apparently. And is PS3 a failure then since it wont be close to PS2? Same with PS4? I love how 3DS is so bad because it wont match DS yet this doesnt apply to them lol.

It isn't even matching the GBA's pace actually, but it will sell more than the GBA in the end simply because it won't be replaced after 3 years.

But you're the one who's making bold claims of 3DS "raping" the PS4, lol, not me, the obligation is on you to actually back that up with something other than hot air.

The 3DS is not going to have a better lineup next year than they did this year, it's quite probable 2014 will be down YoY for them. The PS4 is probably getting Destiny, Uncharted 4, inFamous: Second Son, the first "real" next-gen Madden NFL (Nintendo fans can scoff all they want, for a large portion of the market this is their "big game"), and probably by next summer/fall Sony will likely be able to drop the price of the PS4 too.

Sony just made a very smartly designed system. I also think Nintendo is in tough because a lot of market trends are going against them whereas in 2006, I think that pendeluem was swinging the other way. Right now, casual/party and cartoony franchises are in tough on consoles I think, Mario will do fine like he always does, but even for Sony things like Puppeteer is bombing and so will Knack most probably. Wonderful 101 is a bomb, LittleBigPlanet Racing was, etc. etc. and a lot of the party/mini-game fests that flooded the market 4-5 years ago are done for today.

I'm like crying right now XD

That's what made the difference for Sony.

The way they marketed the console to the hardcore gamer.

Im blowing hot air yet you claim the market trends are against them? The market is against them yet 3DS is on top. Even if 3DS is down it will easily beat PS4. I dont need a crystal ball to know this. Dont worry you'll see. Was that line up suppose to be impressive lol? Oh noez, 3DS will face Destiny and Uncharted lol. 3DS faced GTA V this year and how far did that get them against it? GTA V will bigger than all of those combined.

This actually makes me feel better about the main reason I was annoyed about this turn of events. I can understand that and prefer that theory ALOT to the whole "more boom" theory.

A million shipped or a million sold? There is a difference. That being said, Nintendo has shipped only 860,000 units worldwide for 2013 as of September 30, with half of those being for North America. So, even if the PS4 only actually sold 500k in North America during launch weekend, it still would have sold more in the region than the Wii U did during the first nine months of the year. Of course, the first nine months of the year isn't the full year, so we'll see who has the better holiday season.

Sold. Sell-through means sold to customer. Yoshida even corrected IGN about this.

What's the "more boom" theory?
