Forums - Sony Discussion - Amazon Customer Reviews for PS4 - Trolls or serious issues?

Eh, with Twitter and Facebook you can be damn sure as hell that if the problems were as widespread as these Amazon reviews suggest then social media would have blown up with it by now.

No because it would be jumping the gun and a good way to lose reputation.  We don't know yet.  And it is also the weekend which doesn't help. Gamespot for instance does not publish anything on weekends.  For now you will be relying on fan feedback where some is true and some is not.   If you are a well known site you are not going to publish something and say my source is from amazon reviews.  That is a good way to lose reputation.

No issues with mine yet, but the HDMI port could definitely be more snug. It feels like it will break if I move the console the wrong way.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Youre not reading what Im saying.

If these apparent problems were widespread then social media would have blown up with people complaining about it. These things would be trending on Twitter and Facebook. Realistically, in the last 24 Hours there has been over 500,000 PS4s sold in America. If the problems were as bad as were led to believe with these Amazon reviews then you can be sure as hell that we would be hearing the Internet blow up with complaints.

Its nothing to do with the big sites reporting things based on Amazon. Its to do with consumers reporting problems on social media.

We arent hearing widespread complaints.

yup the did say it best.

"But if 90% of people who get a faulty console are complaining about it online, while only 9% of those with a working console are broadcasting their success stories, it’s going to seem unbalanced and like there’s some massive, widespread issue. And furthermore, with so many online gaming news sites in existence these days, the same stories about defective consoles are being bounced around between hundreds of sites, when really they may be reporting on a relative handful of units."

Also, hopefully people will do some research first before freaking out and calling customer service.  My issue was the misaligned piece of metal in the HDMI port as reported by Kotaku.  A quick 5-second fix and my PS4 is now working fine.  As with any piece of electronic, sometimes you think it's broken but it's really just a loose screw or cable that you can easily fix yourself.  I'm guessing one of the factories received a batch of poorly made HDMI ports that had misaligned pins/metal flap.

Where are the people on this site so quiet about their PS4's? It seemed like a lot of people were getting them.

Help clarify things!!! Probably too busy though playing them.

Some people are having issues with the update 1.05.
After updating, it bricks the console. After that, PS4 won't output anything.

It's 1.50 actually.
