Not sure is Etho was serious heh.

Honestly, as a lover of all things Sony, I don't like this one bit. I don't want the Xbox fans to feel how we all felt when the multiplatform games were superior on 360 than Ps3. I hated getting all those inferior ports like Skyrim (although I still logged 150+ hours). The competition should come with the exclusive games. Not people the developers are lazy or choice to focus on one platform. I really don't like that.

I Actually agree, I think it's petty to wish ill even on your opponents...yet I can't help but feel a hint of Schadenfreude.  I mean, when PS1 came out, Sony fans weren't berating the N64.  When the PS2 came out, Sony fans seemed to be completely inert (perhaps int he arrogant knowledge of being on top), yet Xbox fans constantly touted how SUPERIOR their platform was, and I constatly got harassed for having A gamecube and NOT an Xbox in 2001...and I never saw Sony fans harassing Xbox fans (mostly because at the time I was under the impression Xbox really was better since so many were touting its superiority).

Then, when Sony genuinely fumbled and messed up BAD with the PS3's launch, it was like sharks to a chum bucket and the global hate was so pervasive it took over half a decade to really douse that distaste.  We're just NOW getting back to the point where people don't hate Sony (tide turned in 2009, really happened in 2011).  So yeah, I think it's terrible and I don't want to gloat, but you know what, The fanatics out there frankly deserve it.

Just enjoy your games, man.  Stop with the hatred and ill-wishing.

The only interesting info is the 256MB ram, ARM chip is old news. Ram probably used by the ARM chip for downloading and security purposes.

When you download and install stuff while playing (the game itself or another game/update), it doesn't take neither CPU time nor GDDR5 precious bandwidth and contention. And usefull to download and install while on standby without using power hungry GDDR5 ram.

When you play some games on PC, the game stutter when the OS is doing heavy stuff, it won't be happening on PS4.

Actually when knowing about the download/install stuff while playing, I was worried about the impact on the GDDR5 bandwith (but more important than bandwidth is contention) and always assumed it would then restrict GDDR5 ram bandwidth and lower BW contention. Now I am pleased to see that Cerny thought about that aswell. Not that I ever thought being smarter than Cerny-Sama...

That's crazy that the PS4's extra RAM is equal to half the PS3's entire RAM.  I think, it is and at the same time it isn't.

It's flash memory which is different from DRAM.

No. there is a 256 Mbit (32MB) flash memory (as usual for a console) but also a 2 GBit (256MB) DDR3 sdram for the ARM secondary chip!

It is genuine breaking news!

There's this one, but

Macronix MX25L25635FMI 256 Mb Serial Flash Memory

I'm talking about the one below.

Samsung K4B2G1646E-BCK0 2 Gb DDR3 SDRAM    = 256 MB

Holy shit then that's breaking news! I didn't read enough then.

Then I guess ALL 8gb is dedicated to gaming then.

And we aleady have a die shot of the apu..
After looking at the WiiU die, this is a surprisingly "simple" to understand apu. Roughly 320mm^2 I'd say.

Unfortunatly all 8 Gigabytes of Ram isn't dedicated to gaming. :(
