Most TV's are full HD nowadays....i actually find it tough to find a HD Ready TV.
This wasnt the case a few years ago though.
How people don't know if their TV is 1080p I don't know.
To me of course it does. I just created this account to tell my personal story. Well up until october 7th of this year I was still gaming on a 18inch really old sharp tv with the big box in the back. When the PS4 was announced, I still did not plan to buy a new tv but just keep my really old but reliable TV. However somehow I missed that the ps4 will not support component cables. I found out on ocober 5th a day after my birthday that the ps4 will only support HDMI. So as soon as I found out about this I got some money I had saved for my ps4 along with my birthday money and went to bestbuy. I didn't know anything about TVs at that point but a good 2 hours reading tv reviews and forums gave me pretty decent knowledge to get me a nice 1080p 40 inch samsung TV with 120 Hz. So if sony were to tell me that their games will do mostly 720p now, I will be pissed so yeah now I do have a 1080p TV and I love it and never going back to anything lower.
I have a 42" Sharp 1080p LCD. I love the picture on it, but at the distance I sit from it (~3m) the difference between 720p and 1080p is minor at best.
When I plug my PC into it and sit 2 metres from it, well that's another story but 720p with max AA still looks pretty good.
| eFKac said: I have 3 1080p TVs with different screen sizes, and I'm not in a overly developed European country nor from a rich family. When today ("TV help thread") I saw how freaking cheap is a 60 inch TV in USA I would be really surprised if not everyone would have a 1080p TV there. Maybe just the lazy people. |
Many people (actually until the whole HD craze I would say the vast majority) wait till their old TV breaks before replacing it, I live in the UK where electronics aren't quite as cheap as the US, but still probably one of the best countries for a wage vs. TV price comparison. But our main TV is still a 576i CRT, then we also have a 13" portable CRT in a spare bedroom, and a ~720p in each of two used bedrooms.
That said the main TV is on it's way out as it has started cutting off the left side of the picture... so in a year or two (unless it fails sooner) we will have a 1080p TV in the living room.... of course it won't have any 1080p signals sent to it as it's not where I game, and we use freeview for TV signal.
I would wager majority of flatscreens sold in the last 4 years are 1080p. I have 2 in my house.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Yep, had it 3 years now. I thought the vast majority of TVs were 1080p now?
