I do have a 1080p TV because I only upgraded from a CRT TV around a year ago and 720p/768p TVs aren't really available anymore (unless you go for 32'' or smaller).
But me sitting ~10ft away from the 42'' TV a 720p screen would probably have been enough. So there would be no reason to upgrade if I only had one of those.
I have a Samsung Smart TV 1080 3D 240 hz LED so i assume mine is but i never game on it anyways, i do all my gaming on a PC monitor for less lag and overall better picture imo :D

Nope.
I picked 720p in the poll, though I believe my TV is actually the same res as my laptop (1366*768)... weirdly though when I connect them via VGA the dual monitor section on Windows 7 defaults/reccomends 1920*1080, not sure if it's just a standard Toshiba puts in all TVs whether they support it or not, or if something else is happening.
