In the silly meaningless 'war' you're right. In terms of actually making bank and getting mindshare, US is very important.

Because it will have a flatter sales curve with smaller spikes and the generation will be shorter.

You never said the Wii U would win the gen? But you have said all along that One and PS4 would flop and fail, how can two flops/failures beat your favourite? What will that make the Wii U? I suppose you could just include 3DS sales in the equation to make the situation seem less dire. Oh, wait; you already did!

I read what you quoted and I agree with Seece. That you're assuming that he is only basing this of the UK sales, while in the last 2 weeks both MS and Sonys console launched to much higher numbers than the Wii U in the US as well, is stretching it very much. And even if he was basing it on UK only, then it would still be a reasonable enough thing to say since the UK is the market that most resembles the biggest market in the world, the US market. Also mainland Europe has pretty much shunned the Wii U since release, while going crazy about the PS4 and also giving the X1 a good launch compared to the Wii U.

All in all Seece's post makes a pretty reasonable assumption at this point, certainly way more reasonable than your "UK is not important, Japan matters (present tense) more" claim, no reason to get rude.

Using this logic the 3DS failed because it isn't doing as well as the DS did.

Current economical conditions are vastly different from 5 years ago, Ive been ringing this bell for the longest time.  Stock markets the world over are at record highs, while the recovery from 2008 has been slughish, many economicies are experiencing economic growth, London's housing marking boom is still in tact, many people have money, and the first wave will buy these disposable items at any price.

This also releaves that Sony's brand strength has always been its consoles not its handhelds and its handheld business has truly been disrupted by phones (as well as Nintendo handheld market), hopefully people will become less dismissive of this.

Time will tell how this all plays out but im sure all games on the fence have now been greenlighted (xbox and ps4), the industry has to gear up for growth and not let Nintendo's woes hold them back.

Good for Playstation. I am curious to see in the next 2 years where the sales go for PS4,Xbone, and Wii U. Last Gen I wrote the PS3 off as a dead console but they managed to comeback and tie Xbox, which I consider a win considering how poorly the launch went. The Wii U needs a killer library like the 3DS. I liked Mario 3D World, but Mario Kart and Smash Bros are the two that actually sell consoles. 3D Mario always gives Nintendo a bump but it's more of a game that has great legs and sells well for years. I am honestly shocked at how well the Xbone launch has went. Their products are trash and it just goes to show you that corporations just have to put their new shiny product out and people flock right back to it. After the 360 I will never but another Xbox, unless I plan on eventually having to buy 3 consoles and 6 controllers. I hope they crash hard.
