Forums - Gaming - COD Ghosts Xbox One offline not possible without Live?

You know exactly what is being worked on and tweaked to say they are "core fixes"?

The patches people download have a limited time and then are gone. This forces people to update again, and ensures everyone is on an up to date firmware version. The problem for the guy is his console is banned from connected, so his update is dead and he cannot reconnect to get a fresh update. For all we know the core functionality is there and intact, there could be any number of things being worked on. And when its closer to launch they roll out a real update free of time constraints and the dude is unbanned, can connect and download, then unplug and play offline like any other console.

Not hard, not a big deal. Unless someone wants to try and make it one I guess.

Interesting take. MS knows exactly when they will complete a patch weeks beforehand that they can make the previous patch expire the minute the new patch goes live. And it's just a coincidence the person got his console early and was banned the day before the new one wentlive

Already explained and debunked. Back to your regularly scheduled Xbone trolling and spamming.

The explanation is also fairly worrying, consoles firmware not ready this close to launch, scary.

Scary if you're paranoid, not too technically savy, or looking for an issue I guess. Working on updates up to the last minute is common. Not surprised at all that they are still tweaking something as complex as this.

Yeah i am technically savy and i know if i was still working on major core functionality with less than 2 weeks before launching a product i would be scared, as it stands right now, offline DRM is still there.

Yes devs work up to the last minute, but not on core fixes, normally minor bugs or polish.

i see so you think pre release the firmwares expire if they are not updated, and thats why hes lost functionality.

That's what Albert said. He also said: " The Day One update just brings the SW up to date with the latest versions vs. what's on the box. But there is no 24 check in, that's for sure."

And also: "For sure this has nothing to do with requiring a connection. There is no "DRM removal" in the Day One update because none of the consoles were ever built with that stuff in it."

How do we know that, do you already have a PS4 and Cod?

So, your posting a thread(which I had read) as your proof?

I asked you to prove it.  Show me how it's working for you or someone out in the real world, not some PR BS.  You don't know if it isn't the developer that stopped this from working.  No one knows, that is the real point.  This whole thread is about a game not working on a console that is not released yet.  It will be proven out on launch

It is near the end of the end....

Personally I have lost a lot of respect for Albert over the last few months of PR gaffs.... but that still doesn't hide the fact:

1. None of this matters as long as the console is working correctly on launch day (well it should work just before launch to be honest with you).

That is all. If MS still haven't sorted their stuff out when the console launches in the UK, then the bad PR for them will be considerable. I think they will get some hate by the console being a non useable device without the patch (and without providing an option when picking up the console, but thats another problem)..

So let's all relax and wait and see what happens, no point stressing right now. :)

It is a thread about a guys that was playing CoD without any issues but get banned from Live and after one day his console can't play CoD anymore... it is related to the console... not the game.

DRM is on two weeks before the release.

Wow... the denial is strong with you. It's been said time and again by sony that you don't require internet to play the system starting from day 1. How we know that it wasn't activision is because that is impossible unless you think they sent out ninja assassins in the middle of the night

Why are you all trying to explain to a couple of Sony fans to have patience? They aren't going to listen. The thing isn't ready yet. The console hasn't launched. The guy played early and MS wasn't ready you know because it's early. If the system does like you guys are hoping then it will be disastrous and I'm sure everyone will hear it. Why can't you all wait?

I see no problem if a console is banned from Live people can´t play any game off line.

If it´s all, I think it´s justice for the law abiding gamers.

Other interesting thing, Microsoft should be able to "kill" a console that was stolen.

You need online checkiun to ban a console from offline play... that's the point of the OP.
