I think it's a lot of things

You can certainly play through it on your own, or as part of a 3 player squad. While you play, you can come into contact with large events (can't remember what they're called) where there will be like 20 or so people involved. You can spend your time doing that sort of thing, or playing through the storyline. There is also going to be a separate dedicated multiplayer mode

But I am sure they are still working out how it is all going to fit together. I've pre-ordered it though and looking forward to the beta

Space Exploration should be not tacked on or this game is going to be not so different from Borderlands.

I hope there is plenty of freedom and room for lots of exploration outside of quests and the storyline. Part of the success of Halo online was allowing players to really just mess around in an open environment with vehicles and try to reach seemingly inaccessible areas of the maps. I look forward to finding funny glitches and messing around with the flying ships etc. in Destiny.

from Bungie: "We’re not making a space sim where you're flying through the stars," he explained. "We’re making a first person shooter. So the primary way you’ll get around the world is on foot as a first person shooter, then space travel is a cool way for you to customise your ship and get around."

So you will not be able to pilot your ship in space, which is a bit of a bummer, but you can customise it...

they also said a little about micro-transactions: "We’ve not announced anything on the microtransaction front but our goal is to absolutely make sure that when we deliver a game for $60 that’s a great experience no matter what type of player you are," he said. "So we’re not looking at any pay-for-power type stuff. That’s what I hear as a player when people say they’re worried about models and schemes that nickel and dime people; we’re not going to do that.

Really looking forward to this game. I'm still a little unclear on the details but I trust Bungie to deliver. Will have to recruit a group of three friends for this one :)

Big Halo fan but I'm just not feeling this, neither are any of my friends.

Destiny for me. Gotta say it again. Bungie going mulit-plat is awesome. If they can repeat the Halo-type-hype with this game the sales of later releases can be absolutely immense.

I gotta be honest, this game seems like the culmination of everything I want in a game. You get your own customizable spaceship?! Heck yes!
