If the Wii U was dead there, yes. Same as Vita passing the Dreamcast in europe, irrelevant

People point out when living consoles outsell dead ones all the time. There were heaps of threads when 360 passed the original Xbox, Wii passed the NES, etc.

Not the same thing , its not a performance to outsell dead console since their launch.

This is a sales site. Why some kind of arbitrary rules about which sales comparisons are allowed?

Shame the Wii U sold negative numbers this quarter in europe, i don't think it will ever catch the Vita.

Kudos to it.

Sadly, I think it'll be a long time until Wii-U passes in Japan/Europe. Europe seems like a lost cause at the moment (although there's a potential to turn it around, I think there's a market for cheap home consoles here); and Sony has brand momentum here. Japan is going to be a massive uphill battle since it's handheld territory; and Vita seems to be getting decent support.

Still, not to take away from this achievement, it's a good job. Vita is unfortunately not a console that Americans want, and will exist as a niche machine at best; while Nintendo have a legacy in the USA which I'm sure will be helping them. I reckon USA will be a stronghold for the Wii-U.
