Forums - Gaming - Hypothetically, what if Sony dominates?

What do you guys think the forums would be like if Sony and their PS4 absolutely dominates like the PS2 did?  If the PS4 has every single possible advantage from 3rd party support, first party titles, hardware power, sales, etc.?  Will you be pleased or disappointed?  Will you be bored out of your minds?  If the Xbox One is dominated and the Wii U fails to catch fire, this could be the reality we live in.

Sony will dominate with the PS4. It will outsell the Xbone 2:1. It won't be fun on forums, many of the fans will risk becoming arrogant and abusive.

I totally hope that happens. I want to see Microsoft pushed back to beeing almost irrelevant. I feel they brought many destructive/greedy practices to the market that has been costing us consumers and publishers/developers and will continue to do so.
I do hope the Wii U picks up though (it already is tbh). I would be very pleased with a Sony/Nintendo only market. Microsoft can go back to beeing 3rd party or focus on phones or something. Thats where their pet rival Apple is afterall.

There will be peace at forums, everyone will be playing the PS4. And I'm sure there would be some epigon fanboys telling us that the truth will soon come out, power of the cloud shall be revealed, or that only thing that matters is gameplay, and their console has the best first party games. They would keep us entertained.
I would be like heaven

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

It will be boring and bad for the industry, remember back in the nineties, Nintendo had 85% of the gaming market......yeah, let that sink in.

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Such a blinkered and sad post.   So they brought practices that other manufacturers were FORCED to follow?  Name these awful, destructive and greedy practices that the industry HAD TO FOLLOW.

I'll tell you one thing that they have brought which you should be eternally grateful for.... competition.  Imagine thr PS3 with its launch price and no competition...

You need to wise up.

I am entitled to my opinion and i do not wish to enter a huge argument about this. Instead of dragging this on i will give you the most blatant one: paying for online play. Yes, Sony is following suit, but they wouldnt have had if it wasnt for microsoft.

The competition is nintendo. Microsoft does not have a different enough offer to actually make any sort of difference. The games market was here and had competition before Microsoft joined. You can bet it will still be here after they leave.

Personally, I loved my Xbox 360.  I was a Nintendo kid since the Nes and there isn't a piece of Sony hardware released that I don't own.  The only Microsoft console I've ever owned was the 360 and it was pretty awesome.  It brought a lot to the table and because it was able to go toe to toe with Sony, it brought out the best in both companies.  Netflix was an Xbox thing, online community, built in hard drives , achievements, DLC (for better or worse)--these were all things that Microsoft pushed.  Sure, many would have come about anyway but Microsoft lead the charge.

What would you consider their greedy practices?  DLC?  It was a great idea but got corrupted by 3rd parties first.  Moneyhatting?  Even before the original Xbox came out, Microsoft said that Sony would moneyhat titles so they couldn't get a lot of what they wanted (it's in a 2000 issue of EGM with the Xbox on the cover--read it a few months ago).  Nintendo was the one during the Nes/Super Nes days that wouldn't let companies release games for competitors OR let them release games in a competing genre when their titles were about to come out OR let them release too many games in a certain amount of time.  Censorship, too.  This was when they were dominant and companies had no choice but to follow Nintendo's rules.  Expensive peripherals?  This was an industry standard looooong before Microsoft ever considered jumping into the console gaming business.

I have a Wii U too.  Love it.  Hope everybody buys it.

Personally I would be shock if the PS4 dominates because I am expecting the race to be close with the X1 winning over NA, UK and maybe parts of SA, while Sony takes the rest of the world. I only see it this way because I believe that the majority of the MS fanbase are in territories that usually buys consoles at the beginning of the generation, while Sony has the fanbase split between those who buy early and buy very late in the generation.

What were the results of pushing a generation early? I really really dislike having to debate this but here we go then.

Payed online play, DLC, pushing a generation of gaming before the market was ready leading to increasing development costs and bankrupting of several companies. Season passes, online passes, day one patches and almost enforced digital only. All things ushered in by microsoft. In my view they are a company that does not care about their customers and giving them a fair service. I felt nickle and dimed by microsoft throughout this whole generation ending now at the point where i will never again buy a microsoft console. I regret having ever supported them cause even when Sony was beeing arrogant with the PS3, they never stooped so low.

Microsoft in a nuttshell, nickle and dimes us, destroyed countless job stations and funneled us to a shooter only market, with no variety, wich in my opinion risks a crash when people get tired of so many FPS games. Microsoft is destructive, and i would rather not see things get worse.

I just look at the forums. I know internet =/= reality but if you listen to some, Sony has every single advantage. I just don't think it would be good for anybody involved if we have such a one sided fight. What will be their motivation to innovate? Before the Xbox 360 and Wii came along, Sony was virtually a non-player on their own consoles. Aside from Gran Turismo, Crash and Spyro (which Universal took back), and the eventual God of War, what was Sony known for? Third party games that flocked from Nintendo to greener pastures.

Close competition is GOOD for the industry. People have been crying for Microsoft's demise for so long that they don't seem to appreciate the good things Sony has done in response to Microsoft. Before the Xbox 360, Sony released the weakest most fragile hardware on the market and they were satisfied with this. So many Sony features were tested on the market by Nintendo and Microsoft first. This is an ecosystem. Even the ones we despise serve a purpose, right?
