Sony is more open to opening up their OS to allow Steam in. Gabe Newell was talking about this before. MS would take PC games but they wouldn't let you play with PC gamers.

PC/Console games already exist...

So, no.

If MS does this Sony will allow nintendo games to run on the ps4, wii U and 3ds sup?

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Do you mean allowing all pc titles to be played on the xbone? Or only more recent PC exclusives? What games specificially do you have in mind?

All.

That means X1 would have to be compatible with DX9, 10, 11.

To others. No, Sony cannot do this because PC Games are synonymous to Windows Games. Windows = MS.

Um, PC gaming is pretty much, (unfortunately) more or less Steam. Valve and MS...not so friendly.

I doubt it. PC game compatibility would ADD to the X1 sales but I dont necessarily think they will be that huge. Most gamers who want to play pc gamers already have a high end computer to do so and I really dont see a lot of pc games sales for the X1. Considering the controller layouts and the types of games that tend to populate console vs pc, I dont see a huge amount of movement. In addition we are already starting to see a lot of pc games moving to console and I think this will continue to accelerate with this 8th gen going forward.

Edit: Also I consider your title to be very trollish. You could very easily have expanded it to make it sound less flamebaitis which seems to be what you are going for here.

Dude...no need to be so defensive. Newell has been very vocal about their super strict policies since they brought their games over to the Sony in 2011. I already know PC/Console games exist. Hell you can even sign into Steam with your Sony account for Portal.

That would be ... interesting. I'm not sure how that would work, exactly, and there would be a lot of issues to solve. Licensing, for example, which could cost Microsoft revenue.

It would also get interesting toward the end of the XO's life-cycle, when its specs have sunk toward the low end.

Really, it would all depend on how they handled it. After GFWL, it's not something that I think would necessarily be awesome. Most PC games are using Steam, now, so they'd have to deal with that aspect. If they launched their own store, with their own DRM, with all content made to work with a controller, I'm not sure how it would differ greatly from now.

It certainly wouldn't be a simple task.

Not only hardware compatibility issues, but what about the controls?

Would they be released digitally or in physical format?

If you alreday knew then why'd you type that? You used to be cool. I remember you back in 08-2011. What happened?

Naturally, existing titles would be digital only. This gives a revenue streams to titles that no longer sell. That's like, free money for publishers.

X360 already can use keyboard/mouse, why would it be a problem for X1?

X1 has enough specs to run any current PC games. MS could go the lazy way and release a bootable lightweight Windows. Similar to how WiiU can run Wii games.
