Less of an assumption when the OP is smart enough to know heat =/= overheating and that SW issues =/= HW issues

His post in the thread that stemmed from his flamebait thread. Therefore he was indirectly banned for the thread. Being legit and flamebait isnt exclusive to each other. Hypothetically, I could make a thread and ask why X1 is a shitty console and it be a legit question (yes, its exaggerated to highlight my point and no one would dare say thats not flamebait). Second sentance in your second paragraph defines exactly why it was flamebait. A. thread title states issue with Ps4 hardware. B. OP doesn't know what was said in the video and asks for translation (how did he decide on the title if he doesnt know the contents of his OP). C. states in OP most likely SW bug (but then why say HW issue in title?) Pure and simple flamebait. Text book example. Locked because of the conversation in the thread due to it being flamebait. |
Damn, I missed quite a bit. Not sure if he edited the OP, nor did I read his replies in the thread, but the OP as it is now doesn't seem so bad. Personally, it seems pretty obvious it's just a bug in the SW, so I guess he shouldn't have alluded that it may be due to overheating (like the Youtube poster did), which does make it appear like FUD. Still, nothing incredibly offensive.
@ Carl
Can we please knock off the "you people care too much about pieces of plastic that plays games" BS? Not only are we on a gaming website, but we take it a step further beyond even most of the hardest of hardcore gamers, and regularly visit a GAMING SALES SITE. So obviously we are all very passionate about gaming. And everyone naturally picks their favorites, as in anything in life (restuarant franchises, sports teams, clothing brands, etc.) and knocks the ones they don't like. As long as they aren't overly zealous and cruel, there's nothing wrong with it.
@ OP
Well, not so sure about how I feel about this rule, but I do know that there goes half the posts in most articles.

Once again, read the thread. He never once mentions the hardware, the only mention of the hardware comes from the video itself.

Thats exactly what Im saying. Caring about this stuff is cool, but its a bag of shit and needs to be calmed down when it goes as far as it did in kows thread. The bolded is exactly what it was like. Its what I said in this post.

Im telling people not to care so much that they have to constantly attack another user simply because he posted a potentially negative thread. |

It wasn't so bad thats why a simple title edit would have solved everyone a lot of trouble. As it stands the thread title implying HW issues and the evidence being a video show SW framerate issues is flamebait. The thread title should have said "Apparent Knack frame rate issues" which no one would have given a shit since thats been known for a while (which is why I think that wasn't the title).
so are we saying people don't post flamebait.i'd have thought users and mods that have been around a few years know what users are trying to do
maybe mods should ban heavily bias users from creating threads in said opposite camp topics, someone suggested it already i think, seems pretty simple to do,especially with the launches coming,it does get all a bit tedious to be honest

Indeed, in a utopian world, negativity wouldn't attract negative behaviour... ¬_¬

I wish I was assuming: People usually tell you their intentions once you call them out
Kowen: " how funny you arent this vocal in the bazillion negative ONE threads we endured, often based on nothing but a rumour. This isnt a rumour, this is a video."

It's still an assumption with that post you gave. And the statement made earlier how kowen could have been banned just by having made the thread isn't true. The thread itself was (at least posed) innocent enough.
Mr Khan said: Part of me feels like this is a good idea, but another part does not. Unless this means that we have broader latitude to shut down threads (and moderate such thread-makers) that have a negative tone in them, to stop this sort of thing before it happens? I would rather that we had come down on the side trying to stop the FUD spreaders, rather than hurt the people who are just reacting to that. |
A post like this coming from a mod worries me. Do you not all come to agreements on these things before making them site policy? Or are moderations purely up to the discretion of the mods?
Is this one big free-for-all???
Trucks, I hope so!
But seeing some of the reactions in this thread. I'm a little less hopeful.
Hopefully the mods can get us back on a path to celebrating video games, and not attacking them and their makers.
