I'm keeping my pre-order. Mixed reviews just mean the game is not understood by everyone. I only cancel when a game is universally agreed upon to be bad.

Are you serious? How can people not understand limited gameplay and QTE? Really, just because a review has a low score for this game doesn't mean an idiot reviewed it. The game *is* controversal and if QD makes more of these games they will always be. You like it? Fine. But it has nothing to do with "understanding".

I know you might think i'm defending the game or something like that. But the truth is i am a big cinema lover and follower. I know that a lot of movies and games that we consider classics right now, were received quite poorly when they first came out.

I have played the demo and it was exactly like Heavy Rain, which like this game, some thought was not a game. 2 years after Heavy Rain you hear the same complaints arise.

No one liked Stanley Kubrick's 2001 Space Oddysey and they described it as a snoozfest. Look now, it's the movie that has built the bases for much of the last 50 years of Sci-Fi.

I don't say it's not an amazing experience but still your "understand"-argument is off, I think. The complaints are there and it is totally ok that there are complaints. It is hardly a game which usually relies on gameplay. I think the "fun" is hard to measure with such an experience. If you want a game with great gameplay, choose another game. If you understand a game as an experience and can live with limited gameplay, give it a try.

Jim sterlings review is really bad... Again. I don't think I'm going to like this game, and id give heavy rain like a 6. Edges review giving it the same score is a lot better.

But it feels like he's excited to be so negative. And he contradicts himself a few times in regard to the cast, etc. He does this a lot he's overly positive or overly negative depending if it's his type of thing or not. And with this game it's a increased because of his dislike of David Cage.

So when do we call it? After 50 reviews it's got a 74. I think the first 50 will be a good indicator but I also think that it's only like 2/3rds of the reviews and next year when there are closer to 75 reviews it could be declining steadily... but at that point does it matter?

You answered your own question by obviously misunderstanding the game within the question.

Perhaps you are confusing it with a game?

I'm actually suprised it has a metacritic score of over 70. What were people expecting? It to get nominated for an academy award, LOL.

More of a film than a game by the looks of it. £40 for a film? Think I will pass...

did you just figure this out now?

You must have been confused too because I don't know what "gameplay" would be in reference to other than a game you play

Well, the question is: when do you really play? But relax man, it was meant in a funny way. We are a games-site, we share the same hobby, so let's all have fun together. But really, it is not the gameplay why people buy this game.

I hope nobody defending this game will never ever say anything about Ryse's gameplay! NEVER!

Even IF it was a movie, it would stil be worth it. A gazillion people, inclusing me, paid 20 pounds for the Dark Knight Rises on Bluray and that was 2 hours long. So why would this one, with a much longer story not be worth it? Maybe because you're just biased!?

How am I biased?! I have not played it so can't be either for or against it....I am not going to praise something that I have not experienced and likewise I am not going to bash it.

But based on the reviews I think it is pretty clear to say it is more of a film than a game. Nearly every review mentions it.

As a huge Heavy Rain fan (check my trophies) I was 'hoping' for something a bit like that. The ability to make decisions that shape the story, with the same level of interaction.

The game has a lot of cut scenes, but so do other games. The Final Fantasy series and Metal Gear series have them. But beyond the cut scenes there is also an actual game to play with vasts amounts of things to do. This 'game' looks different in that it really isn't a game beyond the cut scenes.

For the price you could get a lot of Blu-Rays, you could buy the lord of the rings extended editions and alien anthology. 7 films which I am sure add up to more than 12 hours.

Like I said paying £40 for pretty much a film you might not even like seems a tad too much. But hey that is my opinion.

Didn't like Heavy Rain as much as I wanted too. Disappointing to see this get worse reviews. Might wait to get it in the xmas sales, it looked interesting from the trailers.
