8-10mil ? I don't know buddy but I think it could pull off 5 mil.

My prediction may be a bit high but I like to stay optimistic. I think 5m is pretty low tho, Sunshine on Gamecube did 6.3m so Wii U would have to sell like 15m lifetime for 3D World to sell that low.

Your forgetting one thing though, it's doing worse than gamecube in the same time frame. I am not joking and I hope your hearing me right.

I know it is currently but I see a decent sized turnaround for Wii U coming, I think it can do about 40m lifetime so im basing my 3D World prediction off of that number. Do u see Wii U continuing to sell worse than Gamecube?

The WII U as of now needs to drop that controller and start doing something on the lines of a VITA TV like NOW! to be able to reach 40mil.

Nah they should keep the controller, maybe bundle an addition Motion Plus with it. But it should have a decent boost this holiday, they seem to be aiming towards families pretty hard which is a good idea.

Next year should be strong with a huge game each quarter. Q1-Donkey Kong, Q2-Mario Kart, Q3-Smash Bros, Q4-Zelda. If they have a lineup like that and games like Yoshi, Bayonetta, X, SMTxFE, 3rd Sonic exclusive and Wii Sports Club retail version mixed in between then Wii U has potential to sell over 10m in 2014.

Price cut to $199 in 2015 and release games like Paper Mario, Kirby, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Mario Party, Star Fox, F-Zero, Pokemon, sequels of 2012-2014 games can provide sustained sales thru 2016.

@Bold Hahahaha. More like their aiming for hardcore nintendo fans LOL.

I agree that next year will have a stronger lineup but at the same time will people care at that point ? And don't they have face other consoles too ?

Hint: The WII U is still more expensive than gamecube at the time even with inflation accounted for plus this economy is shit so don't expect it to be nice towards to what looks like a dreamcast 2.0 or gamecube HD.

Hint: Ps3 and Xbox 360 sold about 5 mill consoles on its first year, not really that far from what Wii U is now

and certainly in that time no one was complaining about how little was, but oh, the important thing is to doom nintendo

Pd: I am aware that the wiiu need to sell more, but the wiiu "apocalyptic" attitude is just awful

Pd2: Oh, for me this game is having 4-12 mill sells, even more if the console owners grow in number

Did you seriously create this account just to combat me ? If you did then LMAO.

BTW Both the PS360 sold 6mil in it's first year considering the fact that they were expensive as hell. If the WII U can't pull off 5 mil this year then that's pretty pathetic.

I'm aware. But at the same time, the Gamecube came out over a decade ago. Direct comparisons between consoles so far-removed are troublesome, at best.

Hint: The WII U is still more expensive than gamecube at the time even with inflation accounted for plus this economy is shit so don't expect it to be nice towards to what looks like a dreamcast 2.0 or gamecube HD.

If it was a matter of simple economics, that might be the case. However, there is more at play than a simple numbers game. The console industry has undergone a massive shift over the past 10 years, and many of the factors that led to the Gamecube's underwhelming performance don't apply here.

Also, I'm not overly fond of your patronizing tone.

The console industry hasn't changed a whole lot, it will always be the games that sell the hardware and the WII U hasn't proven anything so far like the WII did. Your overcomplicating the factors when the simple answer is that nintendo opted for red ocean instead of blue ocean. BTW I despise the shit out of gamecube and dreamcast together since their god awful consoles that nobody would own seeing as how everbody voted the PS2 with their wallets and if those consoles were good then why on earth did they get rejected so harshly ?

You only need to look at the relative install-bases to see how much has changed; when exactly did Microsoft reach near-parity with Sony? For that matter, when did touch-screens and motion controls become standard features in virtually every console now on the market? When did online console gaming, and everything that came of it, rise to prominence? When did the ability to control your TV and video-conference using a gaming console become selling points? These are all big changes that have taken place over the past 10 years.

And the reason for the woes of the Gamecube and Dreamcast are well-known, and only circumstantially similar to the Wii U. Some issues remain the same, but not for the same reasons, and many of the same factors still apply, but don't matter. And while there are obviously similarities, it's far from 1:1.

Same as Mario Sunshine, so 6m.

Wii Party, Wii Fit, Wii Sports, Wii Karaoke, 4-player Mario..........very family oriented

Well Wii U Is $100-200 cheaper than PS4/One and thats with a game+free online so its more like $200-300 cheaper so id say alot of people will see the value. And the typical consumer wont care that Wii U had a lousy first year. Somebody who is a fan of Mario/Donkey Kong/Zelda/Mario Kart/Smash Bros isnt going to skip buying a Wii U in 2014 because it had a drought in 2013.

The reason why microsoft succeeded in getting a huge slice was how sony screwed up with the PS3. Motion controls are far from the standard seeing as how all next gen consoles use an average gamepad. Online gaming came into focus because consoles decided to be more like PC's. The ability to do other things than non gaming were never selling points cause otherwise bluray would have taken off with the PS3 LOL. These changes are mostly meaningless except for the fact that the HD twins keep leaching off from PC gaming while nintendo keeps pulling off another gamecube.

The reason why they failed had to do with how they didn't disrupt the market like the wii did so yeah alot of the factors apply to all of these next gen consoles.

Except for one thing, those games won't have any affect seeing as how the WII U lost every new audience they gained from the WII if only nintendo would accept the fact that gamecube was a failure and that they thrive in blue ocean then it would be different. 2D mario is family oriented otherwise why didn't 3D mario do the same god damn thing ?! It doesn't matter if the WII U is cheaper or not seeing as how PS4/X1 will have the games to justify their prices.

You can stop bothering me now. You're contributing nothing of substance.

They lost every new audience? What do u have to backup those claims?

I have no idea what ur trying to say with ur 2D/3D Mario comparison

Are u implying thay Wii U wont have the games to justify a purchase this holiday and next year?
