4mil minimum. Depends on hardware sales. So i'll say 5.5mil (if WiiU picks up 7mil easy)

This seems really low for you... Are you expecting another 3D Mario more in the vein of Galaxy/Sunshine after this one?

Hint: The WII U is selling worse than the gamecube as of now. I hope that helped re-evaluate your prediction.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I might have made the mistake of saying about 7 million, but now I must reconsider.

I will adjust my prediction accordingly... upwards to 15 million. Get mad.

Facts hurt huh ?  I guess I should be throwing it more out there to show that nintendo and it's followers are clueless.

The facts, they hurt so bad. I can't imagine a more painful experience than reading facts.

I feel enlightened after sharing these thoughts with you. I think I should adjust my prediction a second time, to 18 million. I feel pretty good about that.

It seems realistic given the current situation.

One-line dismissals backed up by vague opinions and generalizations. And a final line that contradicts the idea of the rest of the post.

You can stop bothering me now. You're contributing nothing of substance.

Opinions and generalizations ? Really ?! Then I guess you can't accept those facts! The fact is nintendo pulled another gamecube but apparently you can't see that. I would really hate to be that blind smh. BTW nintendo also decided to become more like the HD twins just so you know. So what have you bought to the disscusion that was insightful and explain to me why I can't apply the same situation to wii u because saying that it doesn't isn't very elaborative on your part now is it ?

If you weren't so openly rude, arrogant, vulgar, and immature, I would welcome a discussion.

But you repel me, so I decline to humor you.

There so painful that they bring despair LOL, especially towards nintendo's followers. Keep raising those unrealistic bars if you want.

The console industry hasn't changed a whole lot, it will always be the games that sell the hardware and the WII U hasn't proven anything so far like the WII did. Your overcomplicating the factors when the simple answer is that nintendo opted for red ocean instead of blue ocean. BTW I despise the shit out of gamecube and dreamcast together since their god awful consoles that nobody would own seeing as how everbody voted the PS2 with their wallets and if those consoles were good then why on earth did they get rejected so harshly ?

You only need to look at the relative install-bases to see how much has changed; when exactly did Microsoft reach near-parity with Sony? For that matter, when did touch-screens and motion controls become standard features in virtually every console now on the market? When did online console gaming, and everything that came of it, rise to prominence? When did the ability to control your TV and video-conference using a gaming console become selling points? These are all big changes that have taken place over the past 10 years.

And the reason for the woes of the Gamecube and Dreamcast are well-known, and only circumstantially similar to the Wii U. Some issues remain the same, but not for the same reasons, and many of the same factors still apply, but don't matter. And while there are obviously similarities, it's far from 1:1.

The reason why microsoft succeeded in getting a huge slice was how sony screwed up with the PS3. Motion controls are far from the standard seeing as how all next gen consoles use an average gamepad. Online gaming came into focus because consoles decided to be more like PC's. The ability to do other things than non gaming were never selling points cause otherwise bluray would have taken off with the PS3 LOL. These changes are mostly meaningless except for the fact that the HD twins keep leaching off from PC gaming while nintendo keeps pulling off another gamecube.

The reason why they failed had to do with how thhey didn't disrupt the market like the wii did so yeah alot of the factors apply to all of these next gen consoles.

One-line dismissals backed up by vague opinions and generalizations. And a final line that contradicts the idea of the rest of the post.

When was I ever rude, arrogant, vulgar, and immature about bringing facts ? Then I guess you must seriously hate realists like me then. I offered you some hints to make a conclusion and this is how you treat me ?!

2 to 3 million, with a increase of 0,5 to 1 million on the install base

I know everyone is entitled to there opinion but this is one of the most absurd predictions I have ever seen. Wii U would have to sell under 10m lifetime for this game to sell so low.

Yeah, the way I see it, the launch of the PS4, XBOX ONE and the price drop from PS3 and 360 will make the future REALLY bleak for the wiiU, specially if the PS4 and ONE games start to be light years ahead of the wiiU can pull out. I mean, if the wiiU version of Watchdogs is as shitty as the PS3 version and stuff like that, people will start to lose faith really fast.

right now the top 3 games from the system are

1 Nintendo Land WiiU 2012 Action Nintendo 1.28 0.54 0.36 0.19 2.36
2 New Super Mario Bros. U WiiU 2012 Action Nintendo 0.97 0.42 0.56 0.15 2.09
3 ZombiU WiiU 2012 Action Ubisoft 0.25 0.18 0.05 0.05 0.52

so, I guess it can kick Nintendo Land butt and go to 4 million, but, what miracle are you expecting at this point?

I mean, the gamecube was on par with the competition, the Wii was unique and had a great gimmick. but, what the WiiU has besides classic Nintendo franchises in HD?

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Your encouragement means the world to me. I will continue to strive towards my goal of raising my prediction. I've managed to predict 19 million at this time, and I'm striving to make it 20 million by my next post. Thank you for the motivating words.

I won't get into the rest of this discussion, but I will add this:

The WiiU/GameCube comparison is flawed and it always has been. The WiiU looks bad against the GameCube, because the GameCube actually had a very good year. In fact, there aren't many consoles that sold better than it, and it managed to gain half it's total lifetime sales in that first year (think about that for a second, in the remaining last four years of it's life combined it only sold just a bit more than in it's first year, what happened there?). From the top of my head, I think only the Wii, and the PS2 sold more in their first years. The PS1 maybe, but I don't believe so. That means that some of the most succesful consoles of all time, didn't beat the GameCube when first years are concerned. The XBox 360, the PS3, the SNES, the NES; they all lost. For the WiiU to lose this one, isn't such a huge deal as long it'll do decent enough.
